Hello ladies, I recently purchased my first ever LV bag - nano speedy. How should I take care of the vachetta leather to prevent it from getting water marks or dots-like stain?

I’m thinking of using twilly but it is kind of troublesome to always need to tie it. Hence, I’m looking for easier alternatives in maintaining the bag.

You have options like a twilly like you mentioned however water can go thru your twilly and get the vachetta wet.

Apple Garde Water and Stain Repellant works great. It will not make the vachetta darker. It will look as if it will when first applied but will go back to normal shortly after spraying. Do NOT get it on the canvas as it will make it look shiney. You will need to cover up the bag before you spray the handles and chaps. I did not bother spraying the piping personally but if you decide to, just make sure the canvas is protected.

Also on Etsy there is an item called Love Handles. Its material that your wrap around the top handles and is adhered by velcro. You can order it in different sizes and vachetta shades. The owner is Donna. She can tell you the size you need. I have a few and it works great. I still used Apple Garde on my handles regardless. I use the Love Handles just to keep the handles from getting soiled. Apple Garde Water Repellant is basically a safe guard from liquid, but not so much soil (dirt). There is a leather version of a top handle cover on Etsy as well if you prefer that more.

Hello everyone! Hoping you can give me some advice. I just put a watercolor speedy 30 on layaway with fashionphile- i jumped on it (listed today) b/c its in really nice condition. It looks a little odd tho, how to explain — like the canvas is poofing over the vachetta seams? I currently have 8 speedys of varying size/types, and it looks really odd to me…..none of my speedys do this. I called and spoke with a personal shopper and she said ‘some speedys do this’. But none of mine ever have, and i do have one older MC speedy and its ‘normal’. Anyhow, i can add the link and a few extra pix the FP gal snapped for me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I paid a lot more for it then FP usually lists watercolors for, and i don’t want a wonky bag lololol. To clarify also, i questioned her on the date code listed (2018) and she said it was a typo, its really 2008. And as for the ‘chemical’ smell, she assured me there was no chemical smell. I saw it too, $3,250. to me, the bag has never been used, the patina developed from sit in the closet.

Hi. I had a 2014 Multi Color Speedy and the canvas was thick and it also puffed up higher then the piping. Basically it looked just like yours as far as the canvas puffing up. I think it's normal. I'm not sure what causes it to do that. I bought mine from FP as well about 3 yrs or so ago I believe. I no longer have it. It was just too heavy with all the hardware but it was beautiful. Enjoy your new beauty!

Thank you for your reply Yes looks like it sat unused! Besides a mark on one handle, it looks pretty pristine. Does the poofiness of the canvas extending over the piping look ok to you? Maybe they kept it overstuffed?

I have had dozens of Speedys through my hands through the years, yours look nothing alarming to me, I would not notice the "puff" if you didn't specifically pointed it out, I went and took look at the Speedys I still have, some have those type of piping inward, some have piping outward, I really don't have concern of that look.

That being said, it's just me though, it is your money and you have to be the one be happy with your purchase, so think it over and make decision depends on how do you feel

Once i get it off layaway its nit a big deal to return it if i don’t love how it looks, but they charge you 10% fee to return items that were on layaway so i hate absorbing that lol….hoping i love it! I got the speedy 25 tourterelle and love the color. However wished the strap was thicker...
Do u happen to have a speedy 20 fabric strap? Does it go well with the speedy 25

I don't have any fabric or guitar ( jacquard) strap . All my speedy bags came with the leather strap. My speedy 20 ( Yayoi pumpkin motif) came with the untreated vacheta strap.
I did however bought a separate LV canvas monogram strap to have some swap around
