I like HUGE handbags.

I'd like to share my frustration as a result of exposure and being influenced.

I am fully aware this is happening but I still find myself going back and forth looking at styles I know full well I will not use for various reasons.
I know it's a marketing ploy but I still feel stupid that I'm falling for it.

One of the styles I dislike are bags with no hand carry option, due to either lack of handle or the shortest strap option still being too long.
Shoulder bags slip off and when I wear one crossbody, my shoulder hurts. It must by psychological because I have no problem when wearing a bumbag across my chest.
I still go and look at chain strap shoulder/crossbody bags. Last week I was really invested in a preloved one for a couple of days, being fully aware that I will regret the purchase. I didn't buy it in the end as I saw some damage which finally made me stop watching it.

Another style are smaller capacity bags in general.
Whenever I see that the Multi Pochette Accessories is available to buy online, I feel to urge to just add it to basket and check out.
I like bags that are one big compartment. I hate it when I'm looking at a piece and see that stupid divider in the middle!
The MPA is exactly that with extra steps. I think I just like the idea of playing with the piece, rearranging the pouches and attaching different straps. That's a very expensive toy! I already have a set of three leather zip pouches, and you guessed it, I don't use them very often!

I know I'm not the only one struggling with this ridiculous phenomenon.
What are the styles and pieces you know you would regret buying?

Hello :)
I fully understand you as I used to be like you, mainly because I have the money to spent on such things. I still have some of the bags I bought in the past and they are sitting in my closet for years without being used. I only take them out once a year to ventilate them or to remember what exactly I have in all those bags.
I can only compare this this gambling problem as it really can turn into a huge problem if it is affecting someone's life.

I kind of managed to go over it (and not only for handbags but for all sort of purchases) by setting very high standards for such purchases. For example if it is a pre-loved, it has to be at a huge discount and the condition should be better than "very good". For example yesterday I've got Prada vitello shine turnlock flap shoulder bag, practically new with some discoloration spots, for about $90. Also I should wear it at least ones in the next couple of weeks.

If the bag is new, I have to have the outfit ready for it and also an event where I will wear all that, and I shouldn't already have one in my closet.

Setting and following the standards was quite hard, but at the end it worth it. Not that I buy less, because Internet is giving a lot of opportunities to buy, but at least I buy what I like and wear at least once!

I find that a bigger bag also works better for me. It doesn’t have to be huge but it should fit my wallet, cosmetic bag, sunglasses and phone comfortably with room to spare. I don’t like packing my bag like a puzzle. I also don’t like having to carry my phone outside of my bag. I have had the occasion of almost losing my phone this way.

Why then am I attracted to small bags and clutches? I guess I like the way they look. I currently have several clutches that although lovely to look at, I rarely use. I don’t want to sell these as I do enjoy looking at them.

I also do not do well with bags with compartments. Although the bag itself may be a decent size sometimes the compartments split it up into non-functional smaller areas. I have been successful in selling all my bags with compartments and not buying any more.

I feel you. There's a lot of bags that I admire, love from a far, or I'd get for my "fantasy self"/"fantasy life".

For the most part, I just have to be realistic to myself and just not buy it. Eventually I accept it as it is, and still love the bag but don't have that feeling of wanting to buy. (That's me for the Lady Dior)

However, if I think there is a chance that it might work, then after some consideration, I will buy it, and take the risk of it not working out for me.
I recently had a similar experience with my first mini bag, my nano rejane. When mini/nano/tiny bags were the trend, I was pretty much not for it (for myself). I knew, that for my lifestyle, I needed a bag that could fit at least 3 things: my cardholder, my 6 ring key holder, and my cell phone. I knew most nano bags did not have enough space for a cell phone. So I didn't really bother looking into tiny bags. There were still a few that caught my eye (because they are so darn cute! ), mostly Chanel, Fendi, and YSL, but I turned them all down. I knew myself well enough that I would find the tiny bags impractical.
That is until i saw the nano rejane end of last year. It was sooo adorable! It was a tiny bag but it wasn't flat and had more depth than other bags, it fit my 6 ring key holder (with my car fob) and my card holder easily.... But I held back, it did not fit my phone . So I thought about it for a while. Yes, I do usually have my phone in my hand, but generally I do like to be hands free. Would it bother me enough to have my phone in my hand all the time?
I eventually brought my husband to Moynat to see it, and he said, it's cute, you've been thinking about it for months, you should get it. And well, there was no stopping me now , and I got it earlier in May this year. And I've been absolutely loving it!!! :yahoo: It has been in my top 5 most used bags of my collection, and with the baby blue color, it looks beautiful in the summer. No regrets!

I feel that part of it, is that you know yourself and your lifestyle and in general, you know what works and does not work for you. However, if you have never tried it before, and really cannot get it off of your mind, then maybe it's worth a shot!
If you have tried it before, and it has not worked out for you, then it's more about coming to terms that while you love the bag, you know yourself better, and it's best to admire/love from afar.

I started giving myself a way to try out a new style of bag. I buy preloved and/or cheap. I try it out and if I reach for the bag and it works I might go for the real thing. Many times I don't just because I don't like the style or just like my trial piece alot and there's no reason to switch it for something more expensive.

One style I really like looking at but wouldn't spend money on is a bucket bag. I bought a preloved Kipling bucket bag to try it out and it's a big NO.

For the LV Multipochette there are several less expensive options. You could also rent one for a week to see if it annoys you or if you love it enough to want to buy one for yourself.

I fell for a bag because the color was amazing. I had the bag once before but there was slight flaw, so I sold it. Bought it again after finding it as it is no longer in production. Then I remembered the real reason as the color really doesn't work with my wardrobe. Just sold it again at a slight loss. Luckily it was not super expensive.

how big are your sunglasses?

im asking this because I have a suggestion for them if they aren’t like oversized.
the tip: buy a fostergrant reading glasses and try to fit your sunnies in the little case the reading glasses come with.

my Rayban wayferers and my RayBan aviators fit in that case . My mom she uses reading glasses and she gave the case that comes and fitted so nice. Saving me a lot of space in my small bags.
im a small handbags user and my sunnies are most so if your sunnies are slim or not too big they might fit in a reading glasses case.

Thanks for this tip.

I have some oversized sunglasses but I have some regular size ones that I could definitely put into a smaller case. This would save space in my bag.

I will give this a try.

yeah give it a try, or just look for a smaller case on Amazon.
last thing I suggest to get a pair of RayBan Wayferes or aviators the best sunglasses you can get.

I love RayBan more than any designer sunglasses you can think of. They look great with anything and their cases are so practical and simple. Get a pair of the Ray Ban icons and wont care sunnies like Gucci or similar.

my suggestions the hexagonal, the classic Aviators or Wayferers.
if the classic wayferer feels sligh uncomfort while trying them on ask the pers who helps you to get you the wayferer folding, the Wayferer ease or the classic with the Asian fit.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

I have 2 pairs of Wayfarers that fit my face well. One pair always stays in my car. Unfortunately my absolute favorite pair was lost/stolen and I haven’t been able to find the same style.
