I hope pandora is stalking this thread they can see what we don't like and what is irritating us because at the moment they are alienating a load of ladies who preferred the classic designs that they were so good at doing instead pleasing the very young. It's almost like they are replicating the concept of fast fashion they want us to buy charms wear them for a season then replace with another the next season as though it's easily disposable that we will buy out of impulse like fast fashion. But at least in fast fashion the clothes are cheap, not meant to last. But pandora it's expensive i like to think it's a investment and that iam paying for quality and design. I work for a interior design company who's clients are mainly in the hotel/spa industry nothing exciting. It's creative job But like yourself have to stick to a brief , budget but we have have to also understand a lot about customers perceptions. Pandora take note: you need to understand your client base.

Your job does sound exciting! Interior design was always one of those plan B. careers that I would love to dabble in.

Bangle owners - How many charms do you have on yours? I have three on mine - one charm (black nautical pave), two clips (darker tone rock star - I believe that's what it's called). Would it be tacky to add two more (Pixie and shimmering blossom - black)? I'm wondering if this is an item (the bangle) where less is more. Would love your thoughts.

I used to wear 7 on mine with no clips and loved the look and the charms moving around, but it got scratched - a lot. Now I have one pave and a set of clips, and may or may not keep a couple of bangles on there.

I was wondering if Pandora reps might happen across our conversation...

You are so right about the seasonal/disposable idea! I've noticed that over the past year and I think it makes sense from a corporate mindset: create those gotta-have-it-now charms that don't translate to next season so consumers are "forced" to buy more to remain on trend! Very interesting.

I miss the abstract charms that were more open to personal interpretation, like Ebb and Flow. Remains one of my favorites. I got the old retired nautilus/shell to represent Carl Jung's conceptualization of consciousness. (I personally wish they'd come out with a Brain charm, but I understand this wouldn't necessarily translate well to jewelry lol!) I couldnt have made this personal connection with a cutesy, cartoony snail. Know what I mean?

I'd like more detailed, abstract, artsy, open to personal interpretation and emotional connection. I'm not personally connected to a salted pretzel.

Yes, they are trying to turn us from occasional to regular consumers, to perpetuate the cycle of building and completing bracelets....an autumn one, a christmas one etc. So a continual purchasing cycle, otherwise people (though not us here) might stop after one bracelet.

Like you, I like more abstract and artsy. That's why I have fallen for and just started collecting Trollbeads, for that less commercial and more artsy feel. I will never be able to go beyond silver though as their gold is 18k and really expensive, even the two tone charms.

I do like some of the openwork charms like Ocean Breeze and Butterfly Garden, they are very pretty and feminine without being kitschy and cute. I like the open work Pave designs like Light as a Feather and Winter Whisp. (I realize that the descriptive names are different in the UK and EU.) I also like some of the old standbys like Journey, Hopi and Inner Strength. I absolutely love, love the 14k Royal Victoria, don't have any yet though, but I will probably be scrambling to get a couple of those when I get around to it since they always retire the ones I like.

I have never really been a fan of the dangle charms which was why I was initially attracted to Pandora. I found all that rattling around really annoying. I do have a couple, like the flip flop and sea horse and koala.

I would like to see some Art Deco or contemporary designs as well. Enough with the hearts and angels and cartoonish designs.

I second your last sentence.

I agree about the dog charms! I have had three chihuahuas and they are my babies! I'm a huge fan of the breed. I would love a chihuahua charm! They should do dog charms for all the breeds (or at least the most common breeds)! That's something I'm hoping for!

I also was thinking about charity charms. Like Alex and ani has a bracelet that part of the proceeds goes to multiple sclerosis foundation. I have someone very close to me with multiple sclerosis and I would love the idea of a charm that donated to the foundation! As well as different charities!

:) I hope they do read our conversation we have great ideas here!!

Imagine a charm with this face! <3
Awww, adorable!

I heard from a sa at pandora that they r in the process of trying to get a contract with disney. I hope it goes through cuz i have a travel bracelet I would love to put disney charms on to represent my trips to disneyland.

I never posted an updated picture of my bracelet when I added clips and the wise owl charm! (I love the wise owl, his green eyes are so striking!) I also love having the clips it made organizing the bracelet a million times better.

I want one more murano to even it out so that's for sure what's next! I'm thinking maybe the effervescence charm, do you think there is enough of a difference between the clear effervescence and the white looking glass? Or maybe one of the fascinating charms the white one most likely. What do you guys think of these?

I love my bracelet!!

Interesting! I'm turning 30 this month so do you think that charm would work for me? I'm not a mom.

Oh definitely. The charms are for Mother's Day but they're surrounded around the idea of love. Personally I don't always follow what the names of the charms are meant for, or their collection. Each charm is significant for the person that buys it. You define the charm and it's meaning, not pandora that names it. So go for it. :) really good gift for yourself. Personally I think it's simply elegant.

I think pandora has somewhat got it wrong with their current strategy, this new system of churning out new collections fast, designs that are generic not very intelligently designed and not having enough artisan detailed beads distinct to pandora is having a impact on those that collected with them for many years as it is those customers that can see the difference. I feel they have let down the avid collectors who appreciate design. Whereas the younger generations that have just began the pandora journey will be oblivious and know no better. I wonder wether since pandora became a public limited company with shareholders a few year ago has something to do with it too. Maybe, Greed growing the company too fast and making a big profit margin satisfying shareholders has become a more important factor. Now it's more quantity over quality. Ebb and flow charms are now confined to pandora classics but highly desirable. I love phillipe starcke ghost chairs they will be future design classics . Maybe some of pandora very old designs will be regarded the same in the bead world. At least they still have a few gems for us to pick in the new collections but they are becoming few and far between so sad.
Ah I see you like psychology. I remember my daughter mentioning Jung, aswell as many others like loftus and palmer and the infamous milgrim. my daughters a wannabe experimental psychologist she seems intent that she doesn't want to be clinical one. But the variety that creates credible experiments for better understanding leading to a more accurate diagnosis and correct remedy. I think she would like a brain charm too!

you are right about personal interpretation and emotional connection The charms that are abstract artsy Are definitely have more
