Thanks everyone for your input. I wasn't aware of any bangle "issues" until now and had I been so, it would have probably affected my purchasing decision.
Thanks. Perhaps all SAs should be more forthcoming with this info.
You were lucky you were able to exchange. I will try too. It's true; now that I think about it, I had no scraches with the pave charms only. It's when I introduced the 5 screw on charms that it happened and quite rapidly. I do miss the minimalist look of the bangle with a few charms only, so might just stick to the paves/openworks/dangles if I am lucky enough to swap for a new one.
I will give it a shot Tabitha, as I bought just a few days short of a month. It looks horrible now; not only lacklustre and matt but kind of yellowy too, like white gold when the rhodium plating wears off. I don't get that. Spoke to SA over here and she just said that all smooth surfaced charms and jewellery get loads of scratches due to the softness of silver. She then tried to polish it but to no avail.
I can't imagine what it would look like in a year...
Having charms on the bangle will scratch it. I've heard this a lot, and even the ladies in my nearest shop say it is very easily scratched. It doesn't happen with the original bracelet, it's just to do with the smooth super shiny finish on the bangle.
You could try to exchange, although I'm not sure if they will let you. I would exchange for a bracelet rather than a bangle though, as the bangles will all scratch.

It doesn't hurt to ask the store if you can exchange the bangle (you can call them up to save time), but I think that it's a universal problem that charms that screw on will cause scratches on the bangle. My last purchase consisted of a bangle, 3 charms, safety chain. I wasn't planning on putting anything on my bangle but the sales person packaged my charms, safety chain onto the bangle instead of separating the items in bags or a box. So I didn't notice it until I got home and separated everything that the bangle was scratched where the sales person put the safety chain on (first of all, I would never use a safety chain on the bangle), and the scratch was noticable on a new bangle considering that I didn't even wear it yet!! So I went back to the store and they had no issues exchanging for another one.
I noticed that all the sales person in the store wearing bangles without ANY charms on it. So maybe they have noticed that charms are an issue.
So far I have just put 3 charms on my bangle that don't have the screw through the thread (like open charms or dangles) and so far so good in no scratches.

I am sorry to say that I think you will not be able to exchange it unless you have not had it that long (within a month). They will say that the bangle is due to wear and tear. I think generally that the customer service is bad. However it's worth a shot.![]()
