Does HH replace leather zipper pulls? I am so annoyed that one of the zipper pulls on my Marcel clutch fell off the second time I used the bag, and I don't even know where it happened. Why doesn't HH ever tie their zipper pulls in a secure fashion? I remember my Sloane crossbody had the same problem--I didn't realize that the pulls weren't secured so I lost a couple immediately before I noticed the issue.

Funny you should mention that. I feel your pain.

I've been using my Marcel the past few days and was reminded that I need to take a moment to tighten the knot on the leather pulls. They get pretty slippery and its easy to see these leather strips getting lost to the streets of NYC. My Sloane crossbody, which I love, has a couple of missing leather pulls. I asked HH about replacements back when it was in production, but was told that there were none to be had. Bummer, too, because these leather pulls (rather than being attached to a metal tab/pull) are (or were) attached to a tiny o-ring, which is almost impossible to use as a tab/pull.

Dear HHotties-

I would like to openly address something regarding our leather quality that I read on a recent thread this morning.

When I came back on as creative director for Hayden-Harnett last September (post-Silverman debacle), my focus was to returning the quality of materials and design to where it always had been under my helm since our launch in 2005.

All Hayden-Harnett bags, smalls, and cuffs since the Spring13 relaunch in January are made from exactly the same buttery soft American leathers that I launched the brand with. Same tannery. Same article. Exactly the same high quality standard that I have always had for HH. You may not be able to tell this from a small cuff, but you will know this when you hold one of our beautiful bags.

The quality of materials used matters immensely to me as a designer. Many other designers do sub materials as their brands grow, but I will always use primarily American leathers. Hayden-Harnett is an American brand and using the finest quality American leather to make great product is the very core of our ethos.

Thanks for reading my Sunday coffee rant!
Not everyone here knows, or even cares, who I am or what I do- but I do care. I care immensely that our customers and fans know that devotion to quality is HH's primary focus.

Hi Toni,

Thanks for being a part of this discussion. My devotion to HH is due in part of its great designs which manages to marry unique, edgy and luxurious with practical and functional. I have yet to come across another brand that does that. I have a dedicated closet filled (and I mean *filled*) with all seasons of HH. I went through it recently to make room for some new HH purchases and decided to rehome bags from other brands, so loyal I am to it. And this is no label whore, as my closets are filled with Lands End!

The other reason why I choose to spend my money on HH is that there is a personal connection with the brand. I know, and we know, how devoted you are to maintaining product quality and to consider the needs of your fans and customers in your decision making. Many of us have seen HH blossom and go through its growing pains and we are all cheering for its success.

<Back I go into lurking...>

Hi Toni,

I think the new cuffs are gorgeous, Sapphire Metallic might be my favorite color ever. I think the problem isn't one of quality, the leathers are undoubtedly top quality. I think the problem might be slight variations in the thickness of the hides. I'm totally not a pro at all, but to me it looks like my old cuffs are maybe a 6oz hide and the new ones are 7oz or 8oz. The extra thickness, even though pretty minor, makes it harder to get the cuff buckled. I can't measure actual thickness, I'd need calipers and I wouldn't be able to read them accurately enough to denote the difference anyway (bad astigmatism and misplaced glasses). I think as the cuffs break-in, buckling will become easier and the leather looks like it is going to break-in beautifully. I should also point out that I'm obviously looking at a very small sample of items and YMMV.

Thanks for the feedback, HHotties! Really appreciate your input and I will discuss the cuff fit with our production team. I haven't had any problems with my personal cuffs from SP13 or F13 and find them 100% comparable to my older HH cuffs. We're also working with our original manufacturer that we launched with in 2005, so the patterns are definitely the same. There is definitely variation within skins for thickness, but ours are pretty standard as we order from the same tannery every season and use the same articles.

Thanks for tolerating my semi-rant above...I've been working so hard to relaunch the brand with very exacting production and quality standards. I'm very OCD about these things :nutso:

I took advantage of the recent sale and picked up a lorca & a couple of clutch wallets. WTH? Turnlocks don't turn anymore? When did this happen?
I thought the turnlock was the actual closure? How does the bag close if the turnlock doesn't turn?

How long does it typically take to get responses from CS about problems? I never received an actual response to my Boisson clutch with the defective chain, and I noticed the night before last that I was charged for the Sapphire Metallic Wallet although I didn't receive it, and my email regarding that charge has not been addressed either. I am very frustrated with HH and am pretty much done giving second, third, fourth chances at this point.

My order is arriving today. I'm bummed they changed the turn locks, they were so cute and functional! The website is now calling them 'flip locks'. I'm hoping everything looks good! I had zero issues with my spring 2013 goodies.

That uppermost part that you used to flip up and turn? It only flips up and down now.
So you put the "eyelet" over the post where this fliplock is and flip it down to hold the flap closed. According to theory anyway. I'm not going to worry about it falling open because it is a major PITA to get that "eyelet" on or off the post at all. :nogood: You'd better have both hands free when it's time to get into your bag/wallet!

New fliplock = EPIC FAIL. What a shame.

I double checked and this is a recent change. my iridescent silver wallet has the original functioning turn lock.

anyone have a voyager tote? i just received a tote and the leather on it is really stiff. it's pebbly, but it's very plasticky - my first thought was that it reminded me of the leather on a QVC leather bag that i once had (a Rebecca Minkoff/QVC brand).

i had a HH nylon item in the past, but a different item/different year and i don't recall ever thinking the leather on that was any different than my other HH items.

i do love the color (elm) and the bag itself.

i also am having no response from CS about a pilot strap that fell apart. i wrote originally around thanksgiving but after a "we are away for the long weekend" message (which i understand), no one will write me back.

Yep, other than a message telling me that they would get back to me about the Boisson clutch when they were back in the office January 2, they stopped responding on that quality issue. They did email me back today saying they had refunded me for my missing sapphire wallet and were disappointed with problems with their current shipping warehouse and are looking for a new one, but I see they also flubbed my refund by not refunding me on sales tax. Ugh. I am so annoyed.

ETA: And they overcharged me on sales tax in the first place, WTH?? I shouldn't have to chase them down for a few dollars. I shouldn't have to chase them down for my money, period.
