The monogram out of style?

As some others have said, I will quote from the article:

"The one monogram that's still holding strong is Louis Vuitton—which just boasted a record rise in profits. “Something as iconic at Vuitton won’t go away. They’ve been around forever and there’s still a cache to their logo,” says Verdi.

A call into the flagship New York store proved the monogrammed bag is still the bestseller. But edging up to it is Vuitton’s Damier line of checkerboard print bags. “When it came out it was probably supposed to be a one or two season thing, but it’s still going strong and makes up a solid percentage of their business,” says Moore.

I thought the damier pattern was around before their monogram?

For some of the other 'lesser brands' maybe (like DB, or XOXO, sorry, some of those 'colorful ones' can be yucky) LV monogram has been around for decades, it isn't going out of style. Not now and not ever. Timeless and always fashionable. Hence, great resale value!

your answer is printed clearly in the article you are are referring to, here is the quote in black and white and oh so right!!!

To people who don't really have a certain style but just follow trends - then yes, monogram will go in and out of style for them. But i think most people on here really appreciate LV as a design house. Our relationship with LV is different.

I read that same article yesterday and I didn't like it when it was mentioned that the reason why designer logos are shrinking is because "it's no longer ok to appear superficial" like that's our only reason we buy designer things? I think the author is absolutely clueless about the industry.

I never go by what other people way is in or out. I think I'm old enough to make my own decisions....especially for luxury goods!
I think the mono and damier (ebene & azur) are more classic styles whereas the runway styles are trendier and can look more "dated".
