I read this on yahoo today that "big" logos designers put on their bags is now out of style.

How many of you agree with this? I always loved the monogram because it seemed a lot more subtle than most logos and the instant recognition that it is an LV. But since I want to get a monogram I'm wondering if I should change my mind and get a damier?

I thought one of the points in getting a designer bag was for people to know? I don't see the point in getting a $$$$$ bag were no one can recognize the designer except you...if you're spending a lot of money on it it's nice to have people know the designer it seems.

Maybe I was wrong?

They also say though that the one monogram still holding strong is LV...boasting a record rise.
I'm getting my first LV in the next month or so and I'm getting the monogram...I can't see it ever going out style.

I definitely wouldn't say that LV's monogram canvas is subtle... but it will never be 'out of style'. It's been a classic print for well over 100 years and I believe that will continue.

No, it will never go out of style. It's been here for way to long to go out of style.
Besides that I don't think everyone who buys a expensive bag wants other people to know that it is expensive. Where I live only a few people noticed my mono eva. There is no way that there is anyone knowing that my other designer bags are MBMJ. Sorry if it might sound strange. I coulnd't bring my words out better.

While I don't believe the monogram is out of style or ever will be, I understand your position. I am being granted a speedy by my DH if I kill an important exam next month. I was set on the 35 in MonoCan and then it seems that I saw them EVERYWHERE real and fake. Suddenly the Damier Ebene started to look far more attractive to me. This is a kinda tough one. It is compounded by the fact that I don't like patina that much. Let me know what you decide :)
