Thank you! That really helped. I think I am a soft autumn. I am muted and warm leaning neutral. But I definitely look better in gold and cream than silver and white.

or I thought that I was muted...

I have asked a couple of friends and all of them said no. And I bought (stupid blind buy) two lipsticks from MACthat was supposed tobe perfect for soft autumn (Modesty and Twig) and I look like a corpse.

perhaps I am some kind of spring? Can I attach a picture to get your opinions?

I also used tests online, and did many in the past 10 years :P so sure send a picture!
I have an olive skin, yellow tones, with hazel eyes (brown-green) and dark brown hair...so clearly an autumn but more a type like Jessica Alba or Eva Mendes.

As a side note, but linked to minimalist wardrobe as I´m getting rid of stuff....Selling!!
Been unsuccessful at selling online, a very complicated process since my items seem to attract very young undecided women :P
There is this concept here, which I signed up to use in a month : I rent a shelf space in a consignment shop (in a good shopping area of our city) for 3 weeks, and decide the prices myself. The shop rents the shelf for $ + will take 20% on each item.
Personally as a shopper, I go right to the shelves who have my size, my style, and offer good brands (I don´t bother with buying fast fashion second hand)....the problem is I have a price in mind I´m willing to pay and most of the sellers price way too high.
What do you think?
The items are clean, good condition and current. I´m willing to sell/pay for 30% of original price. And they tend to sell for 50-70% of original price. (I´ll pay 50% for a desirable brand though). Luxury is another category.
I stopped by yesterday and collected the price tags that I need to place on at home, so when I arrive in the shop I only hang the clothes and quickly steam some of them. Up to 50 items. Which I don´t even have :P so I´ll take on some of my friends clothes to sell. Each price tag has a barcode, so when I log on the app I can follow what sells, and be ready to fill up more come saturday.
Cool concept , right ??
They do have a special cabinet for luxury items they keep by the cashier

I get rid of stuff through poshmark. They go pretty fast, but I literally go 90% off retail on luxury items from past seasons. I’ve sold desirable items near retail as well. It’s a decent app if you are looking to downsize.

Oh waow really?? I would have loved to buy from you :P
We don´t use Poshmark here... :/ These different websites are really regional that´s funny.
I tried selling online first and people wouldn´t buy because they can´t try it on...So I like the consignment system where I can sell for a bit more without having to deal with silly questions and having to ship stuff....It´s very local but that´s fine cause the clothes are local fashion/brands too

Consignment here is kind of awful. I think they take 50% minimum for clothing. It’s true I had to deal with some very strange people on posh. I can’t forget one girl (?) who wanted Chanel for $100 because she had to pay for her mom’s funeral and lacked the funds? It was horrifying. I wish we had nice consignments here where I can pass on everything. I am trying to downsize and stick to pieces I need and love. It’s difficult for me to splurge on basics for some reason. Mentally, it’s easier for me to spend a lot on intricate things I rarely wear.

This concept is new, it´s not traditional consignment with their 50% and yeah/neah attitude...You rent a shelf for a cheap price (you decide the price of your items, the items just need to be clean and in good condition) and then they take 20%.
I can´t with people and their sh*tty behaviours, if you can´t afford Chanel it´s not vital!
I also never feel excited about spending on basics eventhough I know they end up being used over and over again...Because If I splurge I want a "special" design like a piece of art...So the basics I buy middle range, quality enough but no big brand.

I like this website, it's very detailed and helped me a lot, maybe it helps you out:
This helps me too. Thank you!

I didn’t realize such thing until I read you guys talking about it here. I do aware that I’m a warm tone but thought the colour pallete is a series of colours that we like and choose to be our guidance! Turned out each person has different colour pallete according to their colour complexion. I check this website and went to check some others (they’re confusing for me) and finally looked for the quiz, lol. After I had the answer, I am dark autumn, I went back to the first website and reread for better comprehension. It does make sense now. I have always been attracted to autumn colours and get the most excited getting dressed when fall comes. Black, rust red, forest green, deep mustard and camel are not my favourite colours (I love blue and red) but I’ve always thought I’m the most attractive in those colours. I never understand why but now I have my answer. Ironically, my wardrobe is still dominated with black, white, grey, navy, a few green, and only a couple pieces of beige. I was surprised although I knew I’d look best in autumn colours above but I still buy according to what I like in general. I’m now determined to start adding my colours instead of what is cute on the shelves.

Also, I just learned that white especially pure white doesn’t go well for me. It breaks my heart as I thought white and black would be a safe colour for anyone. I still can do off white or mix it with my colours (based on the advise from the article) to not look washed out. On the other hand, most of my handbags are black and I’ve been trying to reduce the number but glad that black bags go along with dark autumn colours, that is such a relieve. By knowing my pallete colours, I can also harmonize my bags and accessories according to the pallete too

Good learning here. I’ve been following this thread from the beginning and been decluttering for the last 2 years, since I move country, with step by step result. I‘ve sold and donated a lot by now but feel like I still could go on for another 2-3 more cycles. I have too much stuff especially moving from and to a very different place with a very different lifestyle leaves me a lot of stuff that are not suitable in the new place. For example, I used to walk everywhere and took public transportation and now I drive everywhere. Thinking of high heels, now I can start collecting again.

Have we talked about “uniforms?“ If we have just smack me :stars:. I bought the book about the best dressed list, and then Googled whether someone has ever been on it that was not rich or famous. Which...led me to a page with a discussion of all of the billionaire men who could wear anything but basically wear a tee shirt and jeans every day of their lives. Most of them say it’s because they make so many decisions every day that they want to simplify dressing so they can concentrate on more important things.

So, have you ever thought about a uniform for your minimalism? Do you think a woman could even pull that off or would people say about a female version of Mark Zuckerberg, “Gee, she never changes her clothes.” Can you think of famous female icons that have worn a uniform?

Yes, Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos fame. Not sure if her Court case has been resolved yet. She famously modelled herself after Steve Jobs — black turtleneck, black pants, red lips, etc.

Anna Wintour seems to have multiple dresses in the same style, much as Queen Elizabeth has “ her “ look.

The one who comes to mind is Emanuelle Alt - skinny pants or jeans, button down, bold blazer

I just finished a book that sort of dealt with this. How a lot of stylish women have a signature look. Not a full uniform, but an item/look they are known for. Zendya wearing white heels on the red carpet. Katie Holmes almost always having some denim item on. Angelina Jolie wearing strapless dresses. Emily R almost always showing her midriff. Lupita N wearing bright colors. So not as strict as a uniform, but a signature look. I was thinking of trying to find my signature look, and an actual uniform does seem even more minimalist.

I am really drawn to this idea. Do you have any thoughts about what your item/look would be? There’s an article in the Wall Street Journal about Tom Ford and his signature dressed up style. That he wears a suit to go to the movies. I could see that in some ways, a suit could be like a suit of armor. It establishes a way of being and an approach to life that is very definitive.

Not sure yet. Like you, I'm drawn to the idea. I'll have to check out the article on Tom Ford.

At this point it's almost impossible to find me without some black item on. Black pants and a colored shirt. Jeans and a black shirt. A colored dress and black heels and black bag. The closest would be jeans (or grey pants) and a colored shirt with black belt, black shoes, and black bag. So maybe refine that a bit...

It’s by Jason Gay. There’s the black shirt thing a’la Johnny Cash. Or a black shirt, black jacket. I have a friend that, unless he’s working in the yard almost always wears a jacket. I like that. He’s very civilized. I think I’d like to incorporate a jacket into my uniform, but am not sure what to do about summer. I suppose linen, or maybe do a cotton or linen vest. I always feel dressed wearing a blazer even if I’m in jeans and sneakers.
