awww all of you are so so sweet!

Sadly double breasted coats won't work for me due to my heavy breasts, I needed single b. coats.

I found a white one last year, very light, but falls pretty and found a black one

You look amazing -particularly in the white one!

I fairly much stick to a minimalist wardrobe -although not to the extent I used to..I rebuy pieces which work, always have black bikers, black suits etc, evening wear, casual wear, I’m not keen on knitwear so the minimum I can get away with each winter, then replace the following year.

I have just under 100 pieces, which is far more than I used to have-but I used to wear out all of my most prized designer pieces.

I do have clear outs at the end of each season and update things.

Both of those coats are timeless and suit you really well!

Today I wore a maxi dress and I fell down the stairs because it was too long. I definitely have decided to cut maxi dresses out of my wardrobe. I am getting old and cannot deal with consequences of tripping or falling over my dress I am too lazy and too cheap to get them hemmed. I never really thought about it but I know what I feel comfortable in and that is a midi sheath style dress with leggings. So I have been decluttering all my maxi dresses and maxi skirts.

I am glad you are okay!

The last time I fell down the stairs was about six years ago. I tripped over our dog and tumbled down. I had to take a minute to take stock if anything really hurt or if I had broken anything. Thankfully, I was alright.

I have been debating about my few maxi-dresses. Your post has convinced me it is time to hem them up to midi length. I also am getting older...I AM old...so yea, it's time.

When I talk fashion with my French friends...what happened over the years was several groups.
1-the Parisians who love fashion and would take me to private sales, then tell me first about Vestiaire Collective and have 32 kg suitcases on holidays. But their styling advice was always on point. (invest in a camel coat, get nice accessories, leopard print only sparringly...)

Would you mind sharing any additional styling tips!

Totally agreed about the ethical stuff being quite lacking in the style department. I still try to stick to buying only wool, cotton, linen, silk (and have been doing so for about 5 years), because plastic microfibres, and unless I buy designer, I don’t see any good quality items. But in a way, it’s helped me cut down the # of items I buy, because now I have to wait for huge sales on Net a Porter / Outnet before I buy.

So while I have been pretty good to sticking to a in-and-out policy for clothes (in order to not try to accumulate more clothes in general), I would like to buy less as well.

This year I've been keeping track of all of my clothing purchases. (Does not include accessories like hats or shoes).

2024 so far:
- 7 pairs of trousers
- 5 tops
- 4 blazers
- 1 jacket
- 1 suit set
- 3 dresses
- 1 pair of shorts

Clearly, I do not need to buy more trousers and blazers for a while. (Though they are unfortunately my most favorite items to buy. haha).

And of course, always trying to clean out the closet and rehome or sell items that no longer work for me.

I have been doing Exactly the same thing-and I have Also been buying too many jackets/blazers!

I have been donating pieces as I go along when I buy new ones so that my closet doesn’t grow, but in a couple of months I’ll need knitwear and tailored trousers so have another switch up..

Like you I’ve been “upgrading” pieces, buying better things and donating the less well fitting pieces.

It’s very therapeutic.

(Devil on shoulder: But blazers are awesome! Especially black ones, that are indistinguishable from the other seven black blazers, except to you, you discriminating person, you! :p )

Ok, that may be my problem. And since you also bought a suit, it sounds like you actually have a workplace that appreciates blazers.

I have bought a few skirts. Nothing against them, but my use case for them is: Work from home so no one sees my pasty legs, but must wear something in case I have to stand up in a Teams meeting, also is too hot for normal pants. This feels like I need one, but I’m up to enough that it’s crowding my tiny closet.

Also a few blouses. BF has actually expressed an opinion, that he likes linen blouses. So a few linen or hemp/raw-silk/linen-like pieces, conveniently for the season.
