As a side note, but linked to minimalist wardrobe as I´m getting rid of stuff....Selling!!
Been unsuccessful at selling online, a very complicated process since my items seem to attract very young undecided women :P
There is this concept here, which I signed up to use in a month : I rent a shelf space in a consignment shop (in a good shopping area of our city) for 3 weeks, and decide the prices myself. The shop rents the shelf for $ + will take 20% on each item.
Personally as a shopper, I go right to the shelves who have my size, my style, and offer good brands (I don´t bother with buying fast fashion second hand)....the problem is I have a price in mind I´m willing to pay and most of the sellers price way too high.
What do you think?
The items are clean, good condition and current. I´m willing to sell/pay for 30% of original price. And they tend to sell for 50-70% of original price. (I´ll pay 50% for a desirable brand though). Luxury is another category.
I stopped by yesterday and collected the price tags that I need to place on at home, so when I arrive in the shop I only hang the clothes and quickly steam some of them. Up to 50 items. Which I don´t even have :P so I´ll take on some of my friends clothes to sell. Each price tag has a barcode, so when I log on the app I can follow what sells, and be ready to fill up more come saturday.
Cool concept , right ??
They do have a special cabinet for luxury items they keep by the cashier

I'm curious to see how it goes (good luck!), I never make much money selling online, but then I haven't tried to sell anything for years now. I usually donate anything fast fashion to mid-range directly to my local second-hand boutique. Once I brought some things including a barely worn pair of leather ancle boots, and the shop assistant tried to explain to me that it isn't a consignment store and won't get money for the items  but it has some benefits this way: I don't have to bother with selling, the profits will benefit a good cause and somebody might be happy with what they find. But with very expensive items I might trying to sell them first, too.

I´m curious too, and I see it as less effort as I only put the price tag and bring the stuff physically (then will pick up the remaining), no need to create the listing with photos etc...and no dealing with flaky buyers and haggling!

OK, I work in cycles...after a long while of minimalism aesthetics, and mindful eco purchases I snapped and bought a colourful statement dress yesterday at a fast fashion shop :/ It´s like being on a paleo diet and suddenly binging on ice cream.
....I almost have all I need for this season! Just missing a new pair of everyday shoes (current ones the sole unglued), and maybe....a grey oversize blazer and a collar shirt.

My current wardrobe is almost capsule? lol.
-6 pullovers/ sweaters/cardigans
-5 trousers (jeans, tailored, culottes)
-3 skirts (pencil, mini, long)
-2 dresses (long and short)
-2 shirts / blouse
-2 blazers
-1 suit
...of course we have accessories, lounge wear, gym wear, underwear/tshirts, cocktail attire....

It happens... I had set my goal of not supporting fast fashion any more some years ago, but I relapsed badly in June 2019. I bought several things from Zara & Mango back then, so your one dress isn't so bad. Sometimes it's easier allowing yourself one special, trendy item once in a while, because when you're on a strict diet you're more likely to binge. I don't go into fast fashion stores any more, and don't browse their websites, so that definitely reduces temptation. And I haven't bought any new, trendy fast fashion clothes for over a year now!

Well done you! Oh I know....Zara has a way to photograph their clothes so well....I´m always soooo tempted.

For a bet back in December I was only allowed to purchase second hand for the month of January... not only did I win the bet, I'm still sticking to the "pre-loved plan" and I LOVE IT!!!!

With the exceptions of underwear and socks every other item of clothing/accessories I have purchased in 2020 has been second hand, I've saved heaps of cash, supported sustainable fashion, and the items I have are of much higher quality than fast fashion highstreet brands!

I'm no longer buying into fad fast fashion trends, but sticking to (modern) classics. There are a few trends that I have purchased, that in my opinion will soon transition from trend to classic in the foreseeable future, such as sturdy boots (I didn't get the super thick soled ones) and oversized blazers (again I didn't get the SUPEROVERSIZED style, but stuck with a classic slightly oversized fit) But for both I went for high-end second hand options, and much cheaper than the current highstreet fast fashion options!

After watching numerous documentaries on fast fashion (pollution/exploitation), I fully intend on NEVER RETURNING TO FAST FASHION!!!

Love this! I also try to get as much as possible second hand, and I really found some great pieces. But it's very tempting to buy more than I need, because the purchases are very easily justifiable

I had also not bought Zara (or H&M etc) for years and I relapsed yesterday, as I couldn’t resist a friend’s recommendation. But it is recycled caschemire, so I hope that is fine, sustainability wise.

Cashmere is always a great investment!!! take care of it and it should last you years, I would consider that a sustainable purchase!

-So my clothes/shoes are ready to sell tomorrow (I´m bringing them to a shop that sells them for you and takes %)
-I´ve been buying a lot into neutrals colors (camel, grey, black, white/cream) and I am following a blog/insta where the woman only wears black. Sounds boring but no, she looks feminine and elegant....While some friends are completely sportswear style black. I then realized that it´s truly the silhouette, cut, material that are the most important. And define you. (and your face style : make up, glasses, hair).
I had been having fun with colors but equally battling with the complexity of it all. All my underwear and underlayers were already black or white. But I step inside a store and see the lovely use of colors they do so (denim+blues+lavender/ camel+yellow+burnt orange, etc)...Let´s see, for now I am hitting reset.
-BLACK FRIDAY!! Did you get anything? I am against consumerism and impulse buying (unless it´s a complete love at first sight) and I had made a list of things I wanted anyways but never really got around buying, couldn´t find them on Black Friday online. Oh well....
For example a Wolford bodysuit. until....I stepped inside a store and there it was at -25%!! (+chanel lipstick +fancy hairproducts)

I always had a hard time with neutrals, because black, white and most camel colors do not really look right on me. But now I think that there is the right neutral color for everyone - for me it's grey (I wear everything from super light nearly white to anthracite). I'm a summer type (soft summer) and everything needs to look a little dusty or washed out to look good on me. Black is a very powerful choice, and it looks so flattering on a lot of women, I don't think all black is boring at all! Why should we wear only neutrals or only colorful things? That's what a wardrobe is for, to store the items I'm not wearing at the moment. Sometimes it's pink & yellow combo day, sometimes grey head to toe.

I take some time to look around if anything from my wishlist is reduced, and I usually find one or two things. This year I found an unbelievable deal for a bag by Decadent Copenhagen which I've been eyeing for several months now (I've been looking for an upgrade for my everyday black crossbody bag). It was 44% off. It is really great quality, but I'm not sure it sits right on me. So I might have to send it back.
I'm also not a fan of impulse buys, and try to avoid them. I found a gorgeous blue coat by Massimo Dutti, and I was really tempted, but my list clearly says grey coat - not blue, so I'm really happy with myself in this sales period.

Good luck for your sales!

Yes if you are a summer, like most people
I see around me as I’m in Scandinavia, then grey and also navy tends to look really good.
I’m still on the look out for a new bag, also different from my apc cross body. I just keep on looking on vestiaire collective :)
Thanks! I ended up a little unsure of my clothes compared to the racks next to me but in fact I already sold 2 items within the first hours and on a Black Friday weekend.

Are you good at figuring out seasons? I have so much trouble figuring out what I am. Sometimes I think I am soft fall (isn’t that an option?) other times I think spring.

I like this website, it's very detailed and helped me a lot, maybe it helps you out:

Thank you! That really helped. I think I am a soft autumn. I am muted and warm leaning neutral. But I definitely look better in gold and cream than silver and white.
