Hi guys!! I just bought my first MG, it's a lady bag in black saffiano with the flamma interior.. I was inspecting it to make sure everything was fine and noticed a couple of things. I'd love to ask you guys if you think these are normal for a bag upon initial purchase??
1) At the top of the bag, the red peeks out and some places look like the red has chipped or worn off. It's only in the middle between the straps that I see this, not the sides. I don't even see the red peeking on the sides.
2) One of the buttons on the hardware has a weird marking or tarnish, I'm not sure?? But I've tried wiping with water and it won't go away. I haven't tried anything else because I'm scared I'll make it worse or something.
3) There's a corner on the bottom that has not-smooth edge. It looks like the end of the stitching was not buffed down enough so it creates a corner that was catching onto my tights a couple of times last night at dinner.
4) On one of the sides of the string, there's a tiny part that looks like the leather got nicked and so instead of it being smooth and continuous like the rest of the tie, if I run my hand along it there's a rough point. It could get caught on thin or sheer fabrics in the same way the bottom corners of my bag were catching my tights.

Are these normal for a new bag in this leather?? Have you guys ever encountered any of these? Or am I just overanalyzing lol. I e-mailed the SA who helped me but would love you guys' input. If so, how can I rectify the button or hard corner?? Thank you SO much in advance!!

I am so sorry to hear that! I have a saffiano bucket bag from Barney's and had no problem. The hardware definitely should be brand new. I think you should at least talk to their customer service since they are now offering return service.

Yes, I received it and she is a beauty. Calf skin in blush, much softer than the bucket in veg tan leather.
It keeps in all the necessary for the day (to be said, I don't take much with me to the office)

Hi all! I always loved the Lady Bag but I am also interested in a backpack... has anyone ever tried to use the Lady Bag AS a backpack? as in looping your arms through the longer strap for a makeshift backpack? If it works, I'd rather get the LB so it's a 2 in 1!

Can you just slide the thingy off and tie the drawstrings rather than thread it though? I'm told many people can close it or it will open if too much is in the bag. Was even told this in the store.

I have the lady bag which I don't use much anymore precisely because it's real cumbersome to close. It's a really good looking bag and nice and spacious, so just a real pity that it's not as functional...

Technically you could but it's not easy as well as the leather is stiff so the knot does stay.

Ah, thanks. I think I will pass on this bag. I was going to get the regular size. I live in NYC and need to have a water bottle, book, makeup bag, cardigan, etc. so my bag will get too heavy and it will be an issue.

i am so sad to hear the flap/opening is a pain point. This is the reason why I didn't buy it in store when I was in NYC. But I was regretting not picking one up and keep going back to the website (they do international shipping) but I can't check it out in person again. I was considering the regular sized one to carry my Macbook Air 13" and other basics to work but if the opening is painful to handle daily, then it's not a good investment

Why wouldn't they just add a magnetic closure? Surely the aesthetics won't be that different?

Just ordered a veg tanned black lady bag, so excited! I'm thinking about attaching magnetic snaps to keep the flap down without having to loop the ties. Has anyone done this?
Please forgive me and direct to the correct place if this has already been addressed elsewhere =)

Did you explore the magnetic snaps? Is this possible to do? I'd love to try the same but hesitant to experiment on a relatively expensive purchase
