You should try Aze's link above to hear how it sounds. Its difficult to write phonetically because of various regional accents to assure a 'true' pronounciation. Here's how I would say it: 'jay - ahnt' "coo - guahr'

it appears that the term "Vachetta" is peculiar to LV that is why there seems to be no established correct way of pronouncing it. I can't find it in any dictionary except here - http://www.answers.com/topic/leather

That's correct!

Vacchetta = "little cow" .It comes from "vacca" that means "cow".

"Vacchetta" is an italian word and is pronounced va-ket-ta.

I don't know why this word is used in the USA; I was very surprised the first time I read it here on TPF.

Here's another twist....my SA refers to it simply as 'vash'. I don't know if she's using that as a type of slang word for it but but when I've been in the boutique and pronounced it as va-chet-ah, she has corrected me more than once.

Vachette is the proper french word. It means cowhide. I agree, 'vachetta' seems to be the tPF english translation (with an italian sounding pronunciation); the word doesn't exist in the english language.

i have heard the manager at my store refer to it as "vash" too... i was asking to see the wish bracelet in "natural cowhide leather" and she said they dont have it. when i pointed to it she said... oh its not a wish bracelet... when i asked her how much it is she asked one of the sa's to look up "vash" bracelet.
