Has anyone who purchased California Dream had trouble with it not lasting very long?
Even it is EDP concentration, I find none of the summer collection last particularly long on my skin except sun song and maybe cactus garden. I think general citrus doesn’t last super long on my skin but bergamot does. I spray afternoon swim and I smell a hint of citrus and tons of bergamot.

I spoke with my CA today, he also said the citrus scents don’t last as long as the “floral” ones.
I purchased 2 bottles of California Dream, and gave the first to my mom. She’s the one who told me the smell isn’t lasting. haven’t picked up my bottle yet, as I have zero patience to stand in line to enter the store, waiting to hear back and probably do an exchange.

Thank you for your Reply!

I just asked my SA to order a bottle of California dream yesterday and they have to ship it from somewhere.

I’m such a sucker for the summer collection. I’m a huge citrus, floral person. I’m tempted to buy the other three scents when I pick up California dream. I might think about getting les sables rose or even ombré nomad but I’ve never smelled either. My SA said that they have samples for those in store. I might do Cactus garden and sun song or sun song and les sables rose. Argh....I don’t need that many bottles but one must collect them all.

As a rule, citrus notes will never last long. That's just how they are, which is why they are generally only used a top notes. In order for a citrus note to last for a long time, it has to be adulterated with synthetics, which almost always give the impression that you are wearing chemicals instead of an expensive fragrance. The only citrus fragrance that I know of that smells decent and is long lasting is Xerjoff Nio.

I didn't have to wait in line yesterday when I picked up Nuit de Feu. My SA just told me to walk up to the door and tell them that I was there to see her. When I got there, I walked past the line and the manager came to the door. I told him who I was there to see and showed him our texts, and he let me right in. Thank god. I had no desire to stand out in the heat for an hour or so.

Can you do a quick review on the differences between ones in the oriental collection. I always like rose so I’m thinking about les sables rose but heard really good things about the other two.

I don't really know Les Sables Rose. I haven't really had any experience with it because whenever I've sniffed it on a card, it didn't really seem very special. I have much better rose fragrances. I don't think it's nearly as good as Ombre Nomade, so if you like rose, Ombre Nomade is what I'd go for. Ombre Nomade, though, is very dark, rich, and resinous. Its opening is a bit bombastic, too, so if you're not up for something that can be a bit loud, especially at the start, then perhaps you should shy away. Like Nouveau Monde, it lasts forever and ever...which can be both a blessing and a curse. I've had clothing come out of the laundry that still smelled of Ombre Nomade.

Nuit de Feu is a much more intimate affair. It's very heavy on the frankincense and oud, which I'm happy about because I love frankincense and oud. Not everyone likes incense so much, though, and for some people it's just too much incense. It reminds me a lot of Dior's Bois d'Argent because of how softly it wears and because of the incense. It doesn't have the lasting power of Ombre Nomade, but I don't mind that. It's much more versatile than Ombre Nomade because it wears more softly and doesn't last as long. Like Dior's Bois d'Argent, which is my most worn fragrance, I will be able to get a lot of use out of Nuit de Feu.

Thank you so much for the review! You literally just made this decision way harder!! I was so set on getting...another rose scent fragrance. I’m going to have to pick between les sables rose and ombré nomad because they don’t have a sample bottle or any samples of nuit de feu. While I like frankincense, I’m nervous that it won’t be as wearable in my setting. Maybe I should stick with completing my summer collection prior to getting into the oriental collection. Any thoughts on sun song or cactus garden next?

I’m really looking for a masculine rose fragrance that is also not too too strong or intense (because I work in a medical setting). I have a bunch of hermes and LV rose fragrance which I use at home. I don’t want to smell like a dancing fairy at work though.

Lovely bag!!!
I'm waiting on my California Dream to arrive in a couple days. Does anyone know if the matching bag comes with an online purchase? Unfortunately my local store was looted and destroyed, so it had to be an online purchase. Congrats again!
TY! So sorry to hear about your store. As far as I know, the bags don’t ship for online orders. Did you get it & do you love it?

Chiming in with review of California Dream: I find it very long lasting, up to 8 hours, which is opposite of everyone else. Similar impression to DG light blue scent (with a citrus kick) yet lasts all day on me like Burberry Body. Weird thing is the longer I wear it, the sweeter it smells. Very happy with it as my first LV perfume!

Honestly, I think that Nuit de Feu would be the most appropriate of LV's oud line in your setting just because it's so discreet. It's really a beautiful whisper compared to Ombre Nomade and Les Sables Roses. It's a more pungent oud, though, so it'd be best to try first because there's a wonderful sweetness to Ombre Nomade, which can always be toned down by limiting the sprays.

Of the cologne-style collection, I think Cactus Garden is by far the most interesting. I considered a bottle go6t some time, but it's just not good enough compared to all the other options out there.. Sun Song would be my next choice, but something about it reminds me about the cheap, free toiletries that are left in locker rooms for men to use. I mean, it's definitely pleasant, but it also comes off a bit cheap and synthetic to my nose.

Can you tell us what you have or what you will get next? :3

Well, I can't tell you everything I have because that would take forever.

As for what what I'm getting next, I'm actually waiting on a delivery of Slumberhouse Kiste. Slumberhouses are so hard to get because they're produced in such small numbers, and they sell out constantly. Kiste was actually discontinued a while back, and all I've had is a 6ml decant, so I've been afraid I might not ever get a full bottle. Luckily, they are extraits and quite potent, so the decant has lasted me, but I really really wanted the official full 30ml bottle. The perfumer recently opened his webshop and brought it back, and I was lucky enough to get one (finally) b

Otherwise, I'm not really sure. From LV, I love Orage and have been considering it for a bit. I'm also anxious to test the new one for the men's line, Meteore. It sounds like it might have some potential, though it also sounds a bit like the same thing which Dior has been doing with Sauvage, which is a terrible, cheap-smelling, chemical concoction.

Frederic Malle is one of my favorite houses, but I have most of the ones I really love from the line. I would like one of his roses, though, and I think Une Rose might be the one. I've had my eye on it for a while and was thinking about getting it this summer. Many people love Portrait of a Lady, but I think it falls apart in the drydown and begins smelling too synthetic. Plus, I have a rose perfume from Profumum Roma that is similar to Portrait of a Lady but better.

Back to Dior, though. Aside from the situation with Sauvage, Dior is another of my absolute favorite houses. It's the house I have the most of and that I wear most often. I mainly wear their Maison Christian Dior line. Dior has another one for that line coming to the US this month that I'm interested in testing: Oud Rosewood. These newer Diors haven't been nearly as good as the older ones, though, and feedback I've been hearing has indicated that it's another that doesn't stand up to the earlier releases in that line. My collection of Diors is pretty much done at this point save for maybe one of the Paris exclusives that I have yet to acquire.

Speaking of Dior and roses, though, you might be interested in Ambre Nuit. It is part of the MCD line and was originally created for men before they made the entire line unisex. It's one of the best rose and ambergris fragrances out there. It's definitely one of my favorite roses. It's fairly versatile and doesn't wear too loudly, and a lot of people really like it. It has a lot of fans, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. It's also priced quite reasonably compared to a lot of other luxury perfumes (another reason why Dior is one of my top houses).

When they came out last summer I purchased all 3, but returned the Cactus Garden, after trying the sample a few times. Hubby uses afternoon swim and I use Sun song!

Now he’s on paternity leave, so if I just show up I will have to wait!
