]Except just two years ago, Lamar was a shining star on that team and a leader.[/B] Coach K raved about him. If they need Lamar, they will have Lamar come practice and if he cannot play, he will be cut like what happenned to Rajon Rondo.

Eight players wont be picked initially, so it would hardly look like he is signaled out. Plus, as said before, he is very much on their website.

Those guys made positive progress in their developement as players, while Lamar degenerated into a mentally fragile, emo, hot mess... There is N.O. place on the roster for him. Even if he played like he did last season, his chances would have been very, very slim. Now they're non-existent.

ETA: Of course he still on their website. The 20 finalists were announced in January, when nobody knew just how badly Lamar's season would end... if you check the website, you'll see that Chauncey is also still listed and he's definitely out due to his injury...

Does Lamar have a charity he sponsors? Just wondering, Rasheed Wallace was from Philly, even though he played for Detroit he had a charity in Philly for underprivileged kids. I'm just curious if Lamar does anything like that in NY.

I feel the committee will meet (because the members have other jobs like coaching DUKE ) and come up with a robust team that will represent USA. Ok, lets say you go shopping and there are five pairs of shoes, but you can only buy three of them. You gon pick the three you like best and while the two you decide against haven't been officially eliminated from getting into your closet until you've bought the other three, you still have decided against them before taking out your credit card, getting to the register and paying for them, right?

Cathy's Kids named after his mom. He also sponsors an AAU Basketball Team called Team Odom.

CATHY'S KIDS, A LAMAR ODOM FOUNDATION,was founded by Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom in March 2004.

It was developed as a means for Lamar to streamline all his charitable efforts and focus on making a positive impact on the lives of under-privileged children, as well as targeting a disease that has played a significant role in his life, cancer.

Lamar lost his mother to stomach cancer and subsequently is committed to help causes that are focused on finding a cure and helping people who suffer from the disease.

Mission

Lamar is focused on ensuring that funds are available for under-privileged youth that live in the inner cities of New York and Los Angeles. It is important to Lamar that young people, especially between the ages of 9-14, have the resources they need to get all the opportunities available to succeed in life.

The things that Lamar has identified as most important to helping young people today would be to make sure they have access to some or all of the following:

• Educational tools such as books and computers
• Mentoring and tutoring services (life skills, guidance, academics)
• Recreational opportunities (sports equipment, team and individual sports)

Lamar is also committed to generating funds for continued research, care and clinics as well as education and awareness programs related to cancer, especially for minorities.

It's happened before. I'm telling you sources report who's in + out all the time before the initial announcement + they are most of the time entirely accurate. This is the Olympics. It's a BIG deal. These people spend months putting this roster together not one meeting. By the time they get together they usually already have a rough outline of who's going to be on team + they are just wavering on whether they need fringe player X or Y.
