Lamar Odom out of Team USA consideration?
He's been banished from the Dallas Mavericks and now Lamar Odom might be out of the running for a spot on Team USA for this summer's Olympic Games in London.

Citing a source, Fox Sports Florida reports that Odom has been eliminated from consideration, another blow to a player that has had one of the more bizarre one-year collapses in all of sports. Odom was selected in January as one of 20 finalists for a roster spot. The 12-man roster will be announced on June 18.

During the early portion of this season, Odom mused how he's the only player in the league who is good enough to play for Team USA, but not good enough to make an NBA All-Star team.

Odom played for Team USA in the 2004 Olympics and was also a member of the 2010 World Championship team.

In January, when the 20 finalists were announced, Odom said: "It's an amazing opportunity. Hopefully I can pick up my play so I can secure a spot on that team. I had a lot of fun doing that. And a lot of pride playing for your country."

That didn't happen and because of it, Odom, like the rest of us, will be watching the London Games on TV.

Just went on his site. He's wearing one of his Rich Soil shirts from his line.

Jazzy was right!!

And the constant KoKo  LamLam crap, lol. Granted they're in love, but..... that's only cute when you're 12 or 13.

Yup. And Khloe is the mature married matron lady. There were no glitter ponies at her engagement party, no m'am

I don't think Kris gave them any love at all growing up. Probably why they gush over Rob Sr. Nothing they do is good enough for her. Kris is a hungry monster who can't be satisfied. That's why they need the constant validation from paps and the media in general. If you love yourself, you aren't going to the extremes they go to, IMO.

Doll, Kris gave them something better than love. Way Better. Songwriting credits on her amaze 30th birthday "I Love My Friends" music video!!!

Cuban is done. SMH at Lamar pissing off one of the most outspoken owners to this degree.

Cuban never believed Odom wanted to sit out this season

DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he never believed Lamar Odom wanted to sit out this season because he was dealing with some personal demons.

“I don't think he really wanted to sit out,'' Cuban said. “I think that was just part of the commentary.

“That just makes it convenient, just justification.''

Earlier this season, Odom said he wanted to sit out this season because he was still dealing with the death of his cousin, and the death of a teenager who was killed when a chauffeured-driven SUV Odom and his wife were riding in collided with a motorcycle, which in turn ran into the teenager.

Odom said his wife, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, talked him into playing this season. With that, Odom turned in career-lows of 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds, while shooting a career-low 35.2 percent from the field and 25.2 percent from three-point range.

Cuban had a heated confrontation with Odom during halftime of last Saturday's 94-89 loss at Memphis when he felt the 6-10 forward wasn't “all-in'' when it came to trying to help the Mavs win games. Then on Monday, the Mavs and Odom mutually agreed to part ways after it became obvious that Odom wasn't fitting into the Mavs' immediate plans.

However, the Mavs still must pay Odom approximately $1 million the rest of the season. They also will be on the hook for a $2.4 million buyout to Odom in late June.

When asked before this past Tuesday's game against the Sacramento Kings if he could legally fight the nearly $1 million he has to pay Odom the rest of this season, Cuban said: “I could, but I'm not going to play that game.

“I just hoped it was a Yu Darvish season - struggle, and then get it together. It's not that (Odom) can't play. He's just got to choose to.''

Of course, espn/Dallas still obsess with Lamar. They really need to move on.

The source is not from ESPN/Dallas though, it's from FOX Sports Florida. They just wrote the article which i don't blame them since Lamar is technically still on their team + this just happened and it's being picked up everywhere. Also i posted it because it was more concise. The Fox Sports article talks about other players as well

Clippers guard Chauncey Billups is out of the mix due to a season-ending torn Achilles. And a source said that forward Lamar Odom, who had a poor season and has been made inactive by Dallas for the rest of the season due to squabbles with the team, has been eliminated from Olympic consideration.

Not surprised, tbh.

Why? He's still on Dallas' payroll and like Roxie said, they got this from FOX Sports Florida...

Damn, son! :nogood:

Please it is just easy for them to say to make him look bad which is the trend with the reporting on him now. They havent discussed anything and the Olympic committee does eliminate anyone from consideration, they are just not going to be pick as part of the final 12 along with 8 other players.

It would have good for him to just practice with the team even if he didnt make the final cut, but Lamar needs to focus on himself and his game. If he does that and since his skills are still there, he will be fine next year. He played in the 2004 olympics and was a leader in the 2010 world championships, how many players can say they have done these things?

How many articles have they written on him already today. It is an obsession at this rate.

Dirk Nowitzki says he won't 'bash' Lamar Odom

An exasperated Dirk Nowitzki had nothing to say about Lamar Odom following the final straw that was Saturday's loss at Memphis. Rather indifferent after Tuesday's first game with Odom out of the picture, Nowitzki offered little new insight.

He did, however, glance over at Odom's empty locker with the name plate above it removed before answering questions about life after Odom and the Mavs' much-needed, 110-100 win over the Sacramento Kings.

"There's nothing to say. It's over," Nowitzki said. "I guess as an organization we had to make that move to get him here. Things didn't work out the way we wanted to, so I'm not going to sit here and bash one of my ex-teammates. It is what it is. It didn't work out the way we all hoped, him too I'm sure. Both sides moved on and we've got about eight games left now to make a playoff push here, get some confidence going and we'll go from there. But the situation is over and there's not much to comment anymore."

IMO, there is no conspiracy. They are simply reporting the news. About 20 different sources wrote that article about Lamar being out of the Olympics. Lamar is still a Maverick so they will report on him when there is info to report on him. :shrugs:

Lamar like it or not is a major news story in DAL. And they write just as many articles about the team/other players when news calls for it. Lamar is responsible for him being a media story not the media.

If you read the link Roxie posted, you'd seen that Lamar was just a minor mention in the original article... of course, ESPN Dallas is only gonna focus on him, since he is the only Mav of the 20 finalists... And yes, not being selected as one of the final 12 is a kind of eliminating process...
The article says that the 12-man roster will be announced around June 1, way before the end of the season (for some), which would mean that Lamar wouldn't have had the opportunity to practice with them unless he actually made the team and even you admitted that his chances were more than slim...

This. :smile1:

Somehow I get the feeling that if Lam Lam the Mav was a huge success and the media was obsessing over him in a positive way, you'd feel a lot different...

That article is just to make Dirk look good and Lamar look bad, common theme on Espn/Dallas.

Like I said, I have never heard the Olympic committee publically states that they taking a player out of consideration. They have a pool to pick from and not everyone will make it. Chairman Jerry Colangelo gave an interview and never said anything about someone not being considered anymore. He is to meet with Coach K on May 1 and then announce the 12 players that will make up the team. Also, they want to keep their options just in case, injuries or family issues develop and need other players.
