Hi everyone,

I’ve been curious about jade bangles for some time and had the chance to check out a jewelry store in my city’s Chinatown today. The store owner let me try on several bangles, and I thought this one looked really nice—it’s a light color that I like and isn’t too opaque. The bangle was priced around $330, and when I told the owner I was just looking and wasn’t really trying to commit to one yet, she lowered the price and eventually offered it for $150.

I’m still fairly new to jade and am not sure how much a bangle like this would typically be, so I thought I’d turn to this forum for advice. Does the price make sense? One reason I’m hesitant is because I asked if she had jadeite bangles, and she said they didn’t and “only have 玉”, which confused me because I thought “玉” is just the umbrella term for jade, and this doesn’t look like nephrite. She did claim that all of their jade is natural and untreated. So could this actually be type A jadeite, or is it probably treated or some other type of stone? The store does have good reviews, but all are for gold and diamonds, which they specialize in.

I understand that a bangle that costs a couple hundred dollars won’t be great quality even if it’s real, but I don’t mind as long as it is real. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Me no expert nor can jump to conclusion but do they have a return policy? You’re covered so long you can return IF you are willing to send for lab test post purchase.

I have a dark green jade bangle and light green one my dad purchased from a trip to China years ago and am starting to wear them more now. Only thing is I really want to wear them together and the colour combination looks so lovely, but I can’t stand the clanging sound. Does anyone stack their bracelets and if so do you have a buffer bracelet in between?

I wear dingdang at times and it drives my husband nuts.

I think some kind of cord bracelet may help. However it also depends if your bangles are loose fitting then the buffer bracelet won’t get to work.

Hi everyone! I’m new to the jade collecting, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any shops in US/Canada? What are your opinions/experiences on Mason Kay and Allaboutjadecanada?
I can personally vouch for Jeff Mason as a decent guy who really likes his business of Jade. He carries many products that would not suit my taste at all, however, he also offers many nice pieces, particularly in Jade bangles that are of high-quality and reasonably priced. Keep in mind I believe they are the only business in the United States where other jewelers send their jade products to verify for authenticity.

View attachment 3722781 Hi all! Haven't been here in a while.
I wanted to share a pic of my bangle that I swear has changed over the last few years. It is a very special one to me. A gift from far away.
When I first received it, it had two small translucent "jelly like" spots. I swear those spots are now larger and there are more of them! I know there has been debate over this subject and science tells us that this is highly unlikely if not impossible. . . and yet. . . . Here I am musing over this.
Am I crazy? Anyone else noticed this over the years of wearing a bangle?
Here's a pic.

Thanks 2boys! I keep looking at it & asking myself " is this just in my imagination?" Or "is it true"? I guess time will tell. . .

Hi Molly0! Love the bangle... soft colors... I can see the jelly windows. I can't say that I've noticed my jade changing in color or translucence, but like 2boys, some do seem to change in overall sheen. My 1st black carved is like this. It seemed kind of dry to me, but with semi-regular wear it seems shinier and more "moist".

For me, the amount of translucence and color depends on the lighting: amount, type, direction. My bangles look best in non-direct sunlight at about 1-2 hours before the sun goes down. Something about that amount/angle makes the colors pop & the translucence dreamy. haha.
Haven’t posted here in years but wanted to update after all these years .(7 years!) 😳 Here is my bangle in 2024.

Nope … No change!

Hi Kitty S!

There is no consensus. I have read that if wearing 1 bangle, it should start on the left. If 2, then one on each wrist. If 3, then it is 2 on the left, 1 on the right.... and so on.

I often wear one bangle on each wrist because I wear my Smoke permanently on the right and I like the "balance". Sometimes I'll stack 2 or more on the left, even though it is "unbalanced". If I could afford a second bangle like Smoke, I would totally wear a matching one on the left.

May I ask how common is your comment about wearing the first on the left and the second one on the right wrist instead of stacking two on the left?.

Hi! I think ultimately it's up to the wearer to decide what's most comfortable for them and to wear their jade in a manner that brings them the most joy.

All these years later, I'm not sure where I read about balance, although if you google about balance and which hand to wear a jade bangle, there are suggestions about it.

The important things is that you wear them and enjoy them. I'm down to the one bangle I'm wearing now and I can't seem to find any others that call to me just yet. I wish I still had the bangles and beads and pendant in those photos.

I have a collection of "Junior chewbeads" silicone bangles that I use as buffers. I also use "VSCO bracelets" and spiral hair ties.
