I think you're instincts are correct.

In an article Frou Frou posted the link to, Bali Barret and the Comité de Couleur give Hermes 10 colourists colour schemes for the season.

I don't think we've ever seen so much coordination of cws across designs though.

I've been buying H-scarfs since around 1980 (some years more, some less depending on my finances as I went on life's journey smile[1].gif) and I don't ever recall such redundancy in colourways across designs either. I think it was best illustrated some time back in this thread by Joannedynne's posting of 3 scarfs in the same colour pallet. To my eye the only differentiating factor was how the scarf read in terms of the size of the colour blocks (from a design like GPdF showing small linear blocks of the colours to JQ showing large, bold blocks of the same colours)..

Is it possible that we noticed this trend because there are a lot of designs this season -- look at the list of 90cms! -- but the colour palettes are set (limited)? I love the designs but didn't want more than 2 in the same colour family.
I agree on the too-muted and/or limited colors. The Grand Prix was fabulous but just too pastel and/or white for me! Wish it came in a version that was more saturated with color throughout-not just the sky.

FWIW, I picked up Robe du Soir on the recommendation of a great SA (she loved it on me, I was a bit hesitant). I decided I was sufficiently 'unthrilled' and exchanged it for Della Cavalleria Favolosa in the 'same' cw and am now quite thrilled. Sometimes, even though the colors seem to be the same, the overall effect is completely different. Apologies for the lack of actual modeling shots but here are the two selections....

Good for you, textilegirl! The Cavalleria Favolosa is a gorgeous choice. I've also learned to follow my instincts about what I will wear vs. what SA is recommending (I had an SA who, while sweet, was not able to pick out what will work for me  ). I now have 2 SAs who know 1) what cw's I like and 2) what suits me. They're absolute gems! :hugs:

I got my beautiful JQ scarf a few weeks ago.
I had to go back today for her ‘big sister’ ! My SA texted me yesterday about this color way of the Cashmere and I couldn’t wait to see it!

These are stupendous! What wonderful choices! Congrats! I finally decided on CW1 of JQ 90 but your CW was my close second choice.

Panthera Pardus. This is my scarf of the day so thought I would post it here, too. This one is so good.
HeatherZE,thank you for your mod pic which you shared with us. This is a very beautiful scarf. I'm a new collector of scarf and will like to seek advice from you ladies who have silk scarf like this Panthera Pardus or any silk scarf in white. Do you face any issue with the white silk turning yellow in years to come? I'm still thinking whether I should get this Panthera Pardus in Black/White. Will appreciate your feedback

Absolutely no disrespect to the pastel-milk-shake-shade lovers (a few of my last purchases have been much softer shades) but TBH I think ish describes the cw quite well. It's a bit sad one of the few times 'H-does-purple' it's more like H-does-ish.

Indeed!! What a bunch of -ish!!! [emoji38]

Asking out of curiosity (I apologize if this is off topic), but has H been doing this "same color scheme across the board" thing for awhile now? Or is it a fairly recent practice?

I'm fairly new to scarves (4 years, but didn't become addicted till last year). But the first thing I noticed was how many of the designs reminded me of each other, and I realized it was because of the color schemes. It felt quite limiting, when I liked so many of the designs but felt like I was trying to pick the same scarf over and over again (because I was drawn to certain colors).

Taking an example from this season, the colors in the purple Jaguar look quite similar (if not some of the same) to the purple Jeu des Cartes. Of course they are very different designs, so perhaps those are not the best examples. And I've not yet seen them in person, but generally when tied, a scarf (arguably) becomes more about the overall color.

I'm not in love with all of the color schemes. This one-size-fits-all practice (which is how I'm currently looking at it) doesn't seem to do justice to all of their designs, dang it.

That said, I am genuinely excited about some of the new offerings. But I do sorely wish there was a greater variety in the color palette too.

The EXTREME sameness we're seeing this season is, I think, relatively new. I've been collecting since about 2007 and don't remember this relentless parade of the same combinations across designs in previous years.
Correct me, scarfies! This was a seat-of-the-pants response. (As usual. :p)

Yes, I'm agreeing with everyone else. When I started it was all different colorways (if anyone can dig up 2000, great example, just looking at the options for Raconte-Moi Le Cheval. Or whatever year it was they did Turandot).

Maybe eight or ten years ago I noticed some repeats, really echoes of colorways across designs, or sometimes across seasons, but in a much more limited way. This season is ridiculous!

Panthera Pardus. This is my scarf of the day so thought I would post it here, too. This one is so good.

I looooooove this IRL. Picking mine up next week!
