Scarves ........The Hermès Fall/Winter 2019 Scarves...........

If you or anyone else could find that out with any certainty, you could take bets....Every half year, Hermes plays its cards very close to its chest, eaking out the forthcoming season in irregular intervals. As the current fashion season comes to a close, H scarf aficionados wait in suspense for the new designs to be released...first comes the list (from trusted sales assistants and press releases) of designs and sizes, then slooooowly, Hermes begins their seasonal reveal, like a sartorial striptease in reverse. Only a few are officially released for sale and of those, only in select colorways. It’s intensely frustrating, as the temptation to buy or pass an item is always made with incomplete information as to what is available...but to pass on something in the hope of a better colorway, can sometimes mean losing it altogether. Sometimes, due to the storefront managers’ erratic taste or insight as to customer demand, a certain colorway will never be available in your store, or even country, unless you place a “worldwide search” and order it in. And yes the online stores can carry less selection than your local store...So, basically it’s a hybrid of poker’s bluff and highway “chicken”: Who Blinks First. It’s a very high octane marketing strategy, and you can either hang on like grim death and play it out to the end, or (as sometimes happens) walk away, and let serendipity take its course...a sort of Zen exercise in non-attachment...I notice the really experienced buyers who know that there will always be another beautiful scarf, are really good at this...it can be fun or intensely frustrating, depending on your state of mind...
I guess the Zen approach will be the approach of a longterm buyer. Somehow I was able to buy 6 scarves within half a year so apparently there was no shortage of beautiful scarves at my local tiny boutique. I guess it's more about stopping by frequently.

My apologies for not having any pictures - the store was busy today and conditions were not good for photos. My store had received a shipment just yesterday with many of the new scarves. There was one pink cw of Pegase Pop, some PdV shawls, lots of the Jungle Love Rainbow. I tried on the blue/green cw and the brown cw. I wasn't partial to the brown, it was just ok, so I think I'm going to wait for the twilly in that cw since that will go very well with many of my bags (I'm thinking navy and camel, and even red). The blue/green looked amazing though, so that's #1 on my fall scarf list. There were a few Bolducs and a caramel cw of l'Arctique that I tried on. The design didn't grab me at first, but it looks great tied - I liked it much better than the brown Jungle Love Rainbow. And upon closer inspection of the design, there are some really cute animals - seals or otters, not sure which, and a walrus. I put that one on my list too. There were a couple of Patisserie, but not the brown cw I wanted to see, and interestingly, none of the Mountain Zebra.

Also interestingly, and somewhat bothersome, I saw a lot of the Spring season scarves. I don't know if it was just my store, or what, but there were several scarves that I had wanted to take a look at that have just now shown up (literally - I was at the store a few weeks ago and there was nothing then). I mean, it's already the end of June and the Fall scarves are out and I just find this very frustrating. Thankfully at least the ones I wanted to see were there and I was able to take a look, but I don't understand why H can't do a better job of getting things into the stores.

I hear you! Last year SS018 I was on the hunt for the blue Samourais CSGM. For months neither of my local stores had them. Then last May I found one in NYC, and then the other in Europe. By late June when I stopped by the boutique in California, yep there it was!
Also, I miss the all- en site!

It just depends on where you live, as well, "my" store is the only one in town, and i am quite frustrated when certain colorways are not even ordered....it is really up to the upstream managers and what they think will sell in the area they market to...as far as my town is concerned, the tastes are quite conservative.

Yes, most definitely.
Thank you , moma! :flowers:
The white or cream cw's also seem close to transparent.
My Jardin de Leila AW2019 reminds me of high-end gauze—maybe just the light background color & a lack of my experience with “the hand” of these delights. Led me to muse earlier in thread if JdL2019 is a “summer” csgm.

Very light feel compared to my early 90 and the 2009, not as different compared to my 2014.

Seriously tho’ I think there’s a separate thread on the real issue of “thinner” csgms since 2008 or so.
I'll look for that thread. Thank you, Jbb! :flowers:

Retailers mark summer stuff down the most as fall clothes are coming into the stores. The H price is fixed, can't be reduced. Instead, H gives access to the spring scarves just at the time that the customer says to herself, If I don't get this spring scarf now I may never see it again.
Nothing is simple.

Yes. This is true. It's only a problem when the SA's adopt an attitude of "we just saw you the other day, what are you doing here now?" So the Zen approach (to me) would be to say to myself, at least, that I'm a collector and I don't care what what the SAs say as long as I get the HS that are most desirable to me. Collecting is an obsessive sport. The thrill of the hunt, the focus and intensity required to track down a desirable item, is, in its own way, a lot of fun. (So the response to the SA's should be something along the lines of "Bite me."). :)

I’m an enabler. It’s available at the Meatpacking location as of this past Wednesday. :graucho:

@sf_newyorker LOL I don't think I need much enabling after @LadyCupid posted those incredibly helpful mod shots! But thank you for letting me know! I'm hopeful I can snag on at my store in NJ to avoid the taxes. Thank you so much LadyCupid for all of your photos, they are going to help so many of us out in our decisions. I really appreciate that you took multiple views and folds!

I know this feeling. My boutique has the same issue regarding RTW. Luckily scarves can be transferred. I got the purple ACTE III April this year when I asked.

But - I always end up wearing the "zen" scarves more often as I discovered them by accident and purchased only because they suit my skin tone.

I feel my SA doesn't mind me checking out another scarf but she always makes an effort to walk me around the store so I get attempted and ask for other merchandise as well...
