My Jardin de Leila AW2019 reminds me of high-end gauze—maybe just the light background color & a lack of my experience with “the hand” of these delights. Led me to muse earlier in thread if JdL2019 is a “summer” csgm.

Very light feel compared to my early 90 and the 2009, not as different compared to my 2014.

Seriously tho’ I think there’s a separate thread on the real issue of “thinner” csgms since 2008 or so.
What is the difference in the Jardin de Leila shawl design this year than the previous years other than the weight? Hermes has lowered the cashmere percentage in their shawls and increased the silk content over the past few years.

To my eye: The AW2019 design, per se, is mostly the same ...BUT....AW2019 features new “block-print like” color applications and additional design elements like a butterfly under the centered title, in color — reminiscent of the prior Exceptional that sold for more than 7,500 euros, according to one source here. AW2019 reflects so many lovely advantages in the block-print like color applications without the expense and heaviness of beads and embroidery.

Totally personal perspective: The CW 16 gives me almost exactly the peacock color, with blues and greens in tail feathers, that I otherwise was anticipating having to embroider myself.

HI! I am a newbie here! Not new to owning the lovely scarfs but new to be slightly obsessed about them! ;) I wondered if there is a place where information is available regarding when Hermes actually releases the new designs? And, do they always release the same amount? Also, do the shops get things that the website does not? I found out my local shop has the Cosmographia in 4 color ways however I had been looking for it online to no avail. Just curious and trying to figure it all out.
If you or anyone else could find that out with any certainty, you could take bets....Every half year, Hermes plays its cards very close to its chest, eaking out the forthcoming season in irregular intervals. As the current fashion season comes to a close, H scarf aficionados wait in suspense for the new designs to be released...first comes the list (from trusted sales assistants and press releases) of designs and sizes, then slooooowly, Hermes begins their seasonal reveal, like a sartorial striptease in reverse. Only a few are officially released for sale and of those, only in select colorways. It’s intensely frustrating, as the temptation to buy or pass an item is always made with incomplete information as to what is available...but to pass on something in the hope of a better colorway, can sometimes mean losing it altogether. Sometimes, due to the storefront managers’ erratic taste or insight as to customer demand, a certain colorway will never be available in your store, or even country, unless you place a “worldwide search” and order it in. And yes the online stores can carry less selection than your local store...So, basically it’s a hybrid of poker’s bluff and highway “chicken”: Who Blinks First. It’s a very high octane marketing strategy, and you can either hang on like grim death and play it out to the end, or (as sometimes happens) walk away, and let serendipity take its course...a sort of Zen exercise in non-attachment...I notice the really experienced buyers who know that there will always be another beautiful scarf, are really good at this...it can be fun or intensely frustrating, depending on your state of mind...

So very well said Katriona!!:flowers:

Thank you! I hope I didn’t sound too snarky...I do enjoy the chase, (to mix metaphors), and love beautiful designs...this year has a really good range...to quote Don Corleone, “Just when I thought I was out they PULL me back in....!”
:laugh:It was accurate and truthful. I didn’t feel there was anything snarky about your insights:flowers:

I'm leaning toward the Zen approach this season. Ironically, H's move to prevent pre-release catalog photos on TPF has encouraged me in this direction. When I was able to peruse the entire upcoming season and eagerly anticipate my favorites, it was easy to rationalize frequent H.com stalking. Now - not so much, the joy is much less if I don't know what to anticipate. I may make a trip to the boutique later in the season when there might be more complete stock in, but the journey is inconvenient enough that I'm not going to make repeated visits "just to see what's in". That said, I ***appreciate more than ever*** the TPFers who are so generously posting boutique and mod shots - that is absolutely helpful and continually reaffirms TPF as my scarf happy place! For now I am content to watch the parade of beauties, and see if one (or more?) of them turns out to be meant for me :)

Congrats scarf! Kachinas is the most complex H scarf to produce! I fell for a giant triangle version. Did not bring it home because of Act III. Wasnt sure about the giant triangle format yet either, but it was gorgeous on the day I tried it.
Thanks! I almost bought the Kachinas triangle in early May but ended up with a moussie that day instead. I wasn’t sure about the triangle format although it felt lovely when worn.
