The story behind
Uniforms worn by the Zouaves, the French-speaking infantry unit from Africa, and the Dragoons, cavalry soldiers on foot or horseback, give name to this scarf. The artist, Virginie Jamin, was inspired by the military attire depicted in the pages of a 19th-century album conserved in the Émile Hermès collection. Decorated with braids and silk embroidery, the uniforms seemed to come alive in a majestic dance, as if inhabited by their former wearers.
Dearest LadyCupid, you are a star, you truly are!:heart::heart: Thank you so very, very much for posting all the photos!!! What would we do without you...? :flowers:

I’m having a similar issue. After years of “making it work”, this season there are color families that are just perfect for me. Do I grab similar scarves? I just keep thinking of all the times I wished I had a scarf that was predominantly pink/blue with some black, and nothing in it that killed it for me, like orange. There have been so many “almost” scarves over the years. It’s tempting to strike now while the colors are working for me, because there have been seasons with almost nothing that worked for me.

This is the reason if I love the designs and cw's then I get it to make up for all of the seasons I didn't get anything. I am in the same boat this season with cw's that work for me. Do I really need two CSGM that are similar in cw's? Act III and Pegase Paysage in the red cw? Yes (probably)! #firstworldproblems

Well, that’s put a whole new perspective on it, then! Forward !

i have this dilemma as well. Already have Act III CW 15 (blue/pink) but the Kachinas blue/pink is also catching my eye! Are they too similar? Decisions, decisions... :confused1:

As a person who buys multiples of the same design. I can’t agree with you more!!:flowers:Also I have found if I buy what I love, what speaks to me, I tend to buy less. I am satisfied and less likely to “search” endlessly. Endless searching seems to be very expensive.:p:flowers:

A few more thoughts from my boutique visit. No new 70s yet. They had quite a few CWs of the new alice Shirley men’s scarf. Only 2 CWs of Mt Zebra. The orange one, and the blue/gold one. Which had too much orangey gold yellow for me.

here is the cosmographia in the blue gold CW. Depending on which diagonal you fold, one way is mostly dark, the other has more light blues.

Maison carres in the blue Cw. Didn’t buy because not sure if too similar to my Samourais CSGM.in this pic I am wearing with white tee and navy cardigan. Hmm, I may yet buy this one, LOL!

@scarf1 I loveeee that Maison Carres on you! But it definitely may be a bit similar to the samourais. I missed that one so I may have to jump!

I'm just scrolling along accepting that there are scarves I will need to buy but some ones I like in formats that are probably not going to work and then THIS. I missed Flamingo Party and if there was ever a fun party scarf well dang. AND SO MANY BEAUTIFUL CW! Oh lawd help me. However, I don't see these getting worn much in Northeast US in the fall. Too bad there won't be any money left for a tropical vaca after this season though!

I tend to go into “Squirrel with Acorn Hoarding Mode” when it comes to seasons where colors work for me. This fall/ winter season with the brown colorways is slaying me. Since H doesn’t always feature brown as a prominent color in scarves, I’m buying two that are very similar. The Patiserrie ( that I already bought) and I want the Bolduc 90 in the same brown color family. I totally understand what you mean.

That chocolate etc Patiserrie is going to kill me too. I wasn't even thinking about that scarf design 'till I saw your choc/caramel/toffee/coffee version  . There's a part of me that is glad it's not edible, I can have all my cake and eat it too, time and time and time again.

Brown scarves obviously used to be popular judging by how many were made years ago (l o n g t I m e - like '70s). I have noticed that out of all the cws of vintage scarves they are often the most reasonably priced. This makes me think brown scarves don't sell that well ATM. Do I care? I snap them up!

I prob will only get one design per colour family. Same designs in different colours can look completely different, very different designs in similar cws fine. But similar designs in very close colourations just don't make sense. Alice Shirley has a few different scales but her style is unmistakable I need a unique Zebra from AW18 or there's no point. Also I'm having a hard time not repeating cws of Act IIIs from 90 < CSGM too.

First World dilemma. Are “my” neutrals “too many”?
Piks JdL CW16, which I have and herewith a few modeling shots; La Cite Cavaliere CW13, which I want; and Acte III shawl CW22, which I’d like to have but....not sure. What do y’all think?

The challenge is the colouration and scale of the designs are similar. Try them all and pick only the very best. If you need a 'back-up' go for another but (even though I have a few didn't buy regrets) I'd say 1. only buy your favourite (of course they'd all work for you) 2. Hermes always has something fabulous waiting just round the corner.

Congratulations on this beauty.

This is another favourite, I want to try this too. The shiny silk really adds to it.
