This bag also appears fake to me as well. I have 2 GSTs so I know them pretty well. I’d highly recommend she get it authenticated if she’s considering keeping it. If it were me I’d return it just in case while there’s time, assuming she can. Where did she buy it?
The leather, stitching, logo... they all seem really off to me. I agree with the others. I would return this bag. This is the new series GST (post 2010), and that is not that old. These bags should still have the serial numer on it.

The XL is definitely not as popular as the regular size GST. It is a lot bigger, plus the shape is a bit weird as it's very wide, making it look like you're carry this super wide bag.Can you lovely ladies tell me if it is worth buying the GST in the XL size ? I have the regular size one and love it. Just wondering if it is a bag that if my circumstances change and I had to sell it do you think I would get my money back or even make some money. Not that I am buying to sell but you never know what life brings. I know the regular GST is going up in value quite a lot all the time. I can get one in great condition for around AUD $2500.

I wish I lived in the same city as the lady selling it so I could try it on. It does look beautiful though. it is a good deal I think but I wouldn't be buying it just because of that. You make a good point though about the great deal because it is in low demand. Decisions, decisions. I was lucky to buy my regular GST not long ago for AUD $1800 which was a great price and it is like new. Here in Australia they sell for $4000 to $5000 so that was a good win for me. I do like big bags but I have some thinking to do, Thank you so much again.

If you want to get another bag, get another GST! I have six in different colors and love them! I rotate through them. Pick another color! The GST is just classic! So gorgeous. It is still my favorite of all Chanel bags.
It's super easy to rotate through my GSTs, as I just transfer my stuff to the exact same pockets!
I vote get another GST! Totes will come back, so you'll be ready!
6 different colours, what a dream come true you lucky thing. I would say it is my favourite Chanel bag also. I just wish they would bring them out again. I have a GST (black caviar with SHW) purchased in 2015 in London for UK£2000. I have a Chanel shopper, in beige caviar with GHW (VERY similar to GST) purchased in June this year for practically double the price. So, the GST style has aged well - definitely not dated. It all depends what price you can get a decent condition GST for, but I would go for a better condition bag because it will always sell well on the pre-loved market if one day you decide to let it go.
