It’s time to Garden Party! After thoroughly researching this thread, I thought I wanted a less structured GP and requested my SA for a Negonda leather GP30 in Gris Asphalte. He said that he had the color and I made my way to purchase it this past weekend. When I first saw this bag, the color was a perfect neutral but I didn’t like the large grain on the leather. My only comparison would be the Caviar leather from my Chanel Maxi and Tote.
I asked my SA the name of this GP’s leather and he said Clemence. I was surprised because I never read that any TPFers owned a Clemence GP and from what I’ve researches, expected this kind of leather to be less structured. The GP30 I was holding in my hands was durably structured and looked like Country Cowhide for some reason. My SA also had the same color in a GP36 but I took the 30cm size home, loving the Gris Asphalte color and warming up to the structure of the 30cm size.
Now I’m not so sure I would’ve liked this bag in Negonda leather because I’ve used my GP for 3 days straight and it’s fast becoming my daily! I love everything about it’s size, color, structure, durability and craftsmanship. My DH says the hardware needs to be more flashy but I prefer the understated simplicity of this style. And to confirm my suspicions, my receipt says I bought a Country Cowhide GP30.![]()
So glad you are enjoying your new GP!I'm hoping you can share a bit more about this color in country. I'm wondering how it compares to etoupe. I've looked at so many pics showing both, and sometimes gris asphalte looks to be a medium grey, and other times it looks to be a lighter brown, appearing as a lighter version of etoupe (despite being a "gris"). Just wondering, would describe it as belonging more to the brown family or more to the grey family of colors? Thank you for any insight!
I would say Gris Asphalte is more of a light gray color than it is a brown color, but the light purplish undertones of GA allows it to be a chameleon dependent on its surroundings. When I wrap the brown H bolduc ribbon on the handles, my GP looks more like a brown bag. Personally, this is the brownest color I would ever choose because I don’t own any brown-colored clothes/bags/shoes in my wardrobe. I, myself, declined an Etoupe B30 that was offered to me. Although the contrast stitching on Etoupe is pretty, I’m not partial to it enough to want it on my bags just yet. Hopefully my pic of my GA next to my Etain will help you a bit.
Does anyone have a black Epsom GP? I've been searching but can't seem to find a picture of one. I'm leaning towards epsom for my next GP but know that black epsom is hard to find.
TIA!![]()
Thank you so much!
Pretty. You're brave to use a white twilly. I tend to shy away from light color silks since I always have lotion and have stained a few in the past. No easy to get rid of it.View attachment 4399133 Finally found the perfect twilly for my Craie GP. I’m excited to use her this summer.
I love your Calvi or is that a Bastia? Would that green happen to be Vert Vertigo?I would say Gris Asphalte is more of a light gray color than it is a brown color, but the light purplish undertones of GA allows it to be a chameleon dependent on its surroundings.
