I think 30 is the smallest size for either the canvas or leather versions. I can’t speak to the canvas since mine is all leather, but I’ve had it for a year and it has held its shape very well. I think it is typically the larger bags that get slouchy over time. If you dig through this thread a bit, there may be more discussion about this issuegood luck with your decision!

I think my major question/concern is this, what makes the difference between a tote like the Garden Party which closes the bag vs a hand bag with a strap? Can I use either during the day and still consider them both a purse?
Not quite sure what you’re asking, but a tote is distinct in its shape and general function as a daytime bag from a handbag. I mean, the GP basically has an open top other than the snap button, so it is a casual shopping bag.

Sad excuse I know, but as a guy who's just dipping his toes into the world of purses and handbags, there's a lot I still don't understand about handbags and what for which occassions or use. I come here as a sound board for bag ideas and how to wear them and where to wear them. Now that I know it's just a "shopper" essentially, I think I'll have to find a new bag. I'm a great believer in buying and using things that you truly like in the way you'd like to use them, which will not always be 'as intended'.
For instance I have and use a HAC 40 as a day-to-day bag travelling to and from work. Now this bag is BIG, is intended to be a travel bag and I only half fill it, but do I love the look and feel of it (Yes!), does it matter it's not being used as intended (No!).
If you like the look of the Garden Party, then please don't hold yourself back because you feel it is 'wrong' and you won't use it as intended. We all make our own style, we don't need to follow the status quo.
Hi guys! I'm 5.5ft (abt 168cm) and can't decide if I should get the GP30 or GP36. I already have a couple of totes like the LV neverfull and the Gucci swing, so I guess the GP30 will be something slightly different in terms of sizing. I'm just worried that the GP30 will look a litlte too small on my frame. Any of you can share your thoughts or, even better, show me some modelling shots of your GP with height reference please?

I’m about 5’6, and when I tried on the GP30 and looked in the mirror, I felt like I was holding a child’s bag. It probably would have looked better if I had unsnapped the sides and bat-winged them out, but I couldn’t put it down quickly enough! I feel like the 36 is much more proportional. JMHO — I’m sure there are lots of ladies who love the 30 and look great with it. Also, if you need to put it on your shoulder, the 36 will fit, but the 30 won’t.
Thanks for the reply dear, that’s my worry too!! It’s like when I was shopping for the Lindy, I rmb L26 is a very popular size but when I tried it on, it looks so small on me.
Ha ha, I tried on a Lindy 30 once and was surprised at how small it is! I think the thing about the GP is that in my mind, it’s a TOTE, not a handbag. I have bags that are smaller than a GP30, so it’s not the size so much as that style in that size, IYKWIM. It just didn’t look right on me.

I’m just shy of 5’5” and I love my GP30. I don’t like the sides snapped like most - I kinda like it expanded because it looks more like a tote to me that way. It’s the perfect size for everything I want to carry. I use this over any other tote I have (Celine Mini Luggage, Celine Phantom, LV Neverfull MM, Goyard St. Louis PM and GM).
The GP30 is comparable in size to a Neverfull PM (not sure what size Neverfull you have) but the straps are shorter so you can’t pull it over your shoulder.

I’m 5’6” and I chose the 36 over the 30. I also have smaller bags in other styles, and I think the point above about the combination of style and size is spot on. I prefer a tote to be roomy, so I have space for all the things I normally carry and anything I pick up during the day - I don’t want to be carrying my tote bag and a load of other carrier bags on the way home! It comes down to personal preference in the end, but I’d say a GP is a great bag to have in your wardrobe whichever size you decide on.
That’s a good point - that it’s a tote not a handbag. I believe GP36 will be practical, but GP30 is so cute though! [emoji16]

Hello, I think so much depends upon your size preference in general, as well as your build. I'm 5'-5" and the 30 looks proportionally best on me. The 30 functions as a small handbag, but contents are easily accessible due to the tote shape. Ideally you can try one in your boutique to best evaluate how it looks on you, and whether it comfortably holds all you'll carry. Good luck with your decision!
