country cowhide is harder to come by in GP 30. Not sure why.

Unfortunately, even though I want a 30, country cowhide is probably my first choice in leather but Epsom is the leather that would make the colors pop more. Decisions decisions.

I’m hoping to get out of work early one day next week and pop into my local Hermes to see in person the different leathers and colors.

Hoping I can get some feedback:) Do you consider your GP a forever piece? I’m worried about the structure loss down the line. Mine is about 6 months old in very infrequent rotation because my only Hermes and I do baby her. I’m in love with the subtlety and versatility of my Negonda noir in 36. But I have a chance to sell her now at about 3000. I realize the preloved market for GP’s have quite a lower return than this. I’m torn if I should keep and cherish her, or take the offer now and move on, but may never get another Hermes again. I have other bags (classic flaps, lady diors mostly). She’s my only tote.
Thanks for your time[emoji1374] and any advice.

If you want to, then it’s ok to sell. I love mine, but I really use my bags and especially my GP36. I don’t consider the GP36 a bag to save. Use it like a tote! But if it’s not working for you then I think you should sell and put the money towards a bag you would use.

Thank you! Has yours held up pretty well over time?
Hi there. I’ve only had mine a year or a bit more. It’s clean but it’s got a few corner rubs. It’s a big bag so it hits things at times. But that bag is meant to be used. I have two Birkins and I use them less often but I use my GP36 and GP30 a lot. I understand you feel Hermes is special, and I do too, but I feel like the GP36 really needs to be used and enjoyed. I think you can get another Hermes bag later if you want one. But give yourself permission to use it if you like it! Let yourself break it in a bit. But if you don’t like using it, then maybe let it go if you are ready. Maybe it’s just not the right style for you.

I think westcoastgal is spot-on with her advice. I’ve sold bags that I’ve babied and/or barely used, because I wanted the highest return possible when I sold them. I didn’t enjoy them. I didn’t utilize them. They were luxury props. Years later, I use and enjoy the other bags I’ve kept. The bags I sold were definitely not right for me.

I think you’ve already decided what to do, it sounds like you need some prompting to follow through. If you honestly think you can use your GP, get smoothed corners, softened leather (squish effect) and enjoy it as it is intended to be used, keep it. If you’re going to baby it and check corners and sides with each use... if you like the thought you are carrying a Hermes because it’s a Hermes, and questioning selling it ONLY because it’s an Hermes, it may be time to sell, take the money and buy something you will enjoy.

Don’t keep it just because it’s a Hermes and you think it might be the only H you will get. You never know.
Do what works for you, only you know what that is, and try not to second guess yourself once your decision is made.
Best wishes for a happy decision!

In general, not really. The 30 is too small, and while the 36 might be able to go on the shoulder if you are very petite, it is not a comfortable carry by any means.
The 30, definitely not. The drop on the 36 is not very long. I can get it on my shoulder but it’s a bit on the corner of my shoulder. It’s not like a Longchamps tote - it’s a bit shorter.
