I totally agree. The finesse makes the pattern disappear in all but a few exceptions. I will buy at least one gavroche in CLF though; I've yearned for this pattern for years and who knows when they will reissue it again. Anyway, the gavs are relatively inexpensive in H terms. Also, I know one is coming in orange but I forget what the printing color is but I think it is marron so it may work. I believe Bleu Indien is another color for the gavs, The design may stand out more on a light background [I hope]
Agreed about the finesse shawl. Plus, my favorite part of the original 70s are the double-striped borders that circle the scarf like ribbons when it's tied, and the way the bright little stars stand out against the dark backgrounds. I miss those elements in the current design, although I can see how it is beautiful in its own right. My wallet is safe from this one, however!
I do think you're right that the silk may bring out the finesse much more prominently for those who are hoping for that.

I'm not sure which pink you mean. There's a light and a dark. I put the colorway numbers above each one, but they're tiny. I tried just now to make them bigger, but I can no longer edit the posts.
