Hello fab people, I hope I don’t ask a question that has been answered a gazillion times and if I do… my most sincere apologies.
I like the p9 in full black. A lot. At the same time as most u choked on the price tag. I am used of these at Hermès, where I can “justify” them true leather choice saddle stitching and overall quality …
Could you fabulous people tell me why of why the p9 is worth such a high price tag outside the LV branding of course.
Is it also hand sewed, this very buttery leather and printing is chosen with the most qualitative methods in mind, …
I suppose I want some reassurance that if I buy that one, I am not just paying for a design and brand … (I know I will à part of which is normal)

I’ve also been considering the “SO Black P9” as I’d like to call it, but I worry that black hardware will chip/erode and show silver or brass underneath overtime and I think I won’t like that?
For the above poster, once you handle it you will likely understand and likely be able to justify it. I know for me that’s what happened and I see so many people say “once you touch it….it’s over” 😂. The detailing is excellent, it truly feels very luxurious and despite LV’s sometimes failing standards on their entry level pieces I find these P9’s to be made exquisitely. My understanding is less than 5 (I think I read two?) ateliers in the LV manufacturing chain can even make these. Personally quality wise I do think they are up there with Birkins & Kelly’s as someone who has experience with all 3. I see them as maybe a bit more “fun” and less formal version of the grail H bags. I just think LV is veering on overproduction… so many of the OG colours still open up and despite all their “you must be nominated to get one” I have been offered 5 just in the past 3 months alone (granted… the pastels which are a harder sell) and a few were just sitting in store (This is in the US).

I love my H bags but LV knocked it out of the park with the P9. The leather, as all have said, is impressive and impeccable….it’s just so soft. I think this bag is right on par with my Kelly’s and Birkin when it comes to quality. It’s also a lot easier to use. I also love that I don’t see this bag everywhere. Good luck with your decision.
I have been to the boutique today and seen a 40 in the color combo I wanted.
The leather is nice but in a 40 the puddle is to puddle like.
I can order the 30 so thinking about it.

but is any luxury item genuinely worth it? IMO no. If you can afford it, love the piece and will actually use it - then I say it’s justified.I will say I've owned many H bags and the quality of the P9 is up there. The P9 is also a joy to use unlike a Kelly or Birkin. I’m actually selling my P9 25s(very used lol) since I prefer the 30 size. The offer I received was almost what I paid, so they are holding their value nicely. So there’s that to consider!
I just got the ultra black P9. My SA informed me the hardware won’t chip as it has a special finish. LV has also been improving their black hardware over the years. From Virgil’s first collection I had a trunk with black HW that chipped - it looked awful. My most recent purchase with black HW looks great, no chipping and just normal wear. I’m hopeful the P9 is the same or better.
Thank you for letting me know! I had the exact same experience with the first season of black HW from Virgil’s collection and that’s where I was drawing my concern from! I might actually get one then! 😅

I'm curious for anyone in this thread who has a P9 and also had/has an SC Bag . . . I assume in terms of quality, they are both top-notch? I only discovered the SC Bag in the past few years thans to tPF, so I had to buy mine pre-owned. To this day, though, I continued to be obsessed with the quality and perfection of the SC Bag design.
So I'm curious if anyone has compare/contrast type of thoughts between the two -- though I know of course they are distinctly very different offerings.
