The Dumbest Reason You Ever Gave For Buying a Bag

Another reason I've used: the fashion genie granted my bag wish, so I have to buy it! I don't want to insult them.

I usually wish for smaller versions of bags, so this has been my reasoning for two Reed Krakoff Micro Boxers, the SDJ Toy, an LV Nano, and the Coach Rogue 17 and charm version. Smh...

It's like they're in your head, right? I just found something I NEVER expected at TJ Maxx so of course I had to buy it. Besides, I was looking for the type (elsewhere!), and there it was! Genuine leather, made in Italy - for a pittance! Fashion Genie to the rescue!

Well, I have a hot pink bag, and a pastel pink bag, but I don't have a nude pink. How can I ever get dressed with such slim pickings?

(Replace "pink" with hue of choice. Extra points for reworking this argument based on season.)

My dumbest reason for buying a bag was one situation in the past year.

1. In this case, the specific bag cost less than a full-size bag, and 2. I had never made an impulse purchase of a premium bag before so I gave myself a pass.
This happened in the Dior boutique when I walked out with a totally unplanned Micro Vanity Bag. I always plan my purchases and even stalk them online and in the boutique. On that day, I was just browsing and my wonderful SA must have done his job super effectively. It also didn't hurt that the Micros were SUPER cute in person. No regrets.

Runner Up:
Buying a YSL WOC when I really wanted the Chanel WOC, years ago. Yep, ended up selling it and buying the Chanel WOC. Lesson learned.

Your bag is amazing. I think lunar new year is a great excuse for a bag. You can get a zodiac bag, a red bag or buy a bag with the red envelopes.

The Furla ox bag from last year was just too cute. I wanted the micro bag but reasoned my way out of it. I got the metropolis mini version and it is great but it is not the micro that got away. Skippers regret is real. I wish I listened to my dumb fomo reason back then.

Well this thread didn’t help any I’ve only found new reasons to justify the bags I have been wanting! This was a great read I have 3 bags coming and now new reasons in my head for more. I have told myself crazy things I can’t speak of to buy a bag ha ha. The biggest lie though that I tell myself is if I just bought all the bags on my wishlist the bagony would be over and I’d never need another bag because I’d have the perfect collection!

Confessing my sin.
I’m going to buy a bag by The Row in 2022. Lurking on this thread because a perfect excuse for purchasing the bag is still needed. The bag is roundish and if the bag is British tan it will sorta match one of the dogs, but only if I fatten the dog up a bit, but if I find the bag in green ostrich that would take the dog excuse off the table unless of course the dog somehow turned green. It appears the next step is finding out if green is the dog’s favorite color.

I hate to enable but might be an excuse for a green dog sweater
Then the new excuse: "to match my dog's new sweater!"

The more I read this thread, the more I realize the OP’s title is off. All of these “excuses” are perfectly justifiable. Why wouldn’t you have a bag to match you dog’s sweater?!

I really think this should be called “What are some valid and reasonable reasons you decided to purchase a bag that totally resonates with all of your bag sisters.”
