Here's what I think.
It's absolutely fine to have an opinion about something and express it (to a certain degree). Heck, I admit I'm not a big fan of logo printed bags either. But here's a thing. Why dwell on it because you might end up offending someone who actually loves the look? Not to mention creating a negative vibe in the forum. I also don't see the point of saying "I'm gonna go back to Chanel now" while Chanel also has their classics and has a certain designs that are loud. Just like Dior. Plus, it's not the case that Dior completely stops producing the classic stuffs either. MCG has some really nice subtle designs as well, like the studded bags (e.g. LD and camera bag) are gorgeous!
Anyway, beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?

I have read the whole thread and I don't see anyone's comments as being out of line... that is, unless I don't understand the forum rules? (averagejoe?) If you had posted a reveal, there would have been no debate and I am sure everyone would have just said "congrats" and "enjoy". However, your initial post essentially stated you were on the fence about the bag. This unsurprisingly lead people to give their honest opinion, whether good or bad.

I didnt say the comments were out of line. The point is some posts on here made sure that their opinions were repeated many times. Maybe we should move on to a new point instead of going in a loop of "the bag is tacky and cheap looking", which i think a/ is offensive to those who love the design and b/ creates a negative vibe.
Anyway, I've said what I think. I'll leave it as that.

Oh no, nothing has been out of line. What's the purpose of a discussion forum on purses if everyone agrees with each other at the risk of insulting or offending others? As long as it is said respectfully, then we're good

I, too, did think that the new Dior bags reminded me of Moschino, but the more I look at them, the more I like them. Done much more tastefully in aged gold hardware, thick luxurious leather, saddle-like stitching, and suede lining.

Handbag trends go in cycles (as all trends go). There was logomania back in the early 2000s and went on for many years (think of the Fendi FF logo fabric which is not used as much nowadays). During that time, bags went from the size of the Fendi Baguette to "big bags" where women were complaining about the weight of the bags on their shoulders. The amount of hardware also increased during a period of time (think Chloe Paddington, Gucci Indy, Dior Gaucho, etc.). Then minimalism became very popular and brands reduced the amount of hardware on their bags, and started presenting their logos in small foil embossings similar to Hermes and Celine. Logo fabric was scaled back. Part of it was also to introduce more leather bags instead of canvas bags to increase price points and also revenue.

Coach sales may have been partially affected by their heavy use of logos on their bags in the past (they now feature lots of products in plain glove-tanned leather), but I think the biggest influence was Michael Kors. Coach now reports increasing sales again as their brand has successfully re-positioned to become higher-end than Michael Kors. In fact, they very recently acquired Kate Spade, which is an indication of their new fortunes from moving in the right direction.
This is a great analysis as always, averagejoe!

Hey everyone.

First of all I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just expressing my opinions on the new collection of bags (which is what this discussion forum is used for). If you like the new collection then, great!

Anyway

I went to Dior today in new bond st London. The store is massive! Like the same size as the Chanel next door but slightly smaller than LV which is opposite. The Dior store used to be a lot smaller. Was very busy

The new Maria G collection of Dior bags are at the front, I like the new lady Dior studded bags as they look a lot more youthful and very pretty, and I admit some of the other 'moschino/valentino' style bags do look better in person then on pictures. I asked the SA (don't think I should post her name) on the reaction to the new style bags ( as I stated that they look very moschino), and she laughed and said that a lot of people have said that but Dior are going for a more edgy look which has had a very mixed response but she took me to the middle and end of the ground floor where all the classic Dior bags are ie. Many Lady's, Dioramas, Clutches (Miss Dior is still around!) and some Diorever bags which I absolutely love and will be purchasing!!!

So basically the New collection of bags take 1/3 of the ground floor, the rest is the other styles.

Apparently the most sold bags in the store is the diorama, with the lady Dior in a close second! The diorever is also doing well.

So yeah that's what happened on my visit.

Yeah the Diorama is a surprisingly good seller. Dior didn't expect it to sell that well when it was first introduced. It is a wonderful bag, and I think Maria Grazia Chiuri's team made it more wonderful with a suede lining and a beautiful arrangement of studs and aged gold hardware.

AND thicker leather on the sides so it solves the issue of the sides imploding [emoji57]

I do like the studded ones too. The lady Dior with studs also looks very trendy and could even be popular with male customers as it has a very masculine feel to it (not that there is anything wrong with feminine style bags on males). I just don't like the dioraddict and the similar recent styles.

What do you think of the diorever? Do you think it could become a staple as I am thinking of buying one. :)

If there is one thing I have learned about Dior, its that there is are no staples other than the lady dior and the cannage stitching generally. In other words, you can count on Dior discontinuing the diorever at some point in the future. That said, the diorever is a very classic style with clean lines. I therefore don't think it will ever go out of style so to speak and would be a wonderful purchase. Please post a reveal if you get it!! :)

I don't think it will become a Dior staple even though the name is "Diorever". This is not the first time a Dior bag has used this name, and the last time it was used, the bag was a beautiful classic that was only produced for one season.

At the moment, they seem to have scaled back production of the Diorever so it's hard to say. It will be around for at least a year more if not longer, but Dior has been known to discontinue a lot of beautiful styles like the Be Dior and Granville so if you want to buy a timeless bag, then I suggest the Lady Dior instead.

I already have a lady Dior in a bright red colour in large. I only use it for occasions but does anyone use it as an everyday bag? I have it in cannage

There are some people here who use it regularly as a casual bag, and it looks great that way.

If you're looking for a classic bag that is easy to use and is casual, then I recommend the new studded calfskin (not lambskin) Lady Dior bag in medium size with the new D I O R charms. The closure at the top is a convenient flap instead of a zipper. The calfskin leather is thick and sturdy, and the studs make the bag incredibly chic. The bag comes with a detachable strap that is so unique that it can be used on other bags (like the Fendi StrapYou).

I thought I saw you post somewhere that the diorama was Ben discontinued (I may be imagining this). Is this true? Thanks!

Oh no, I wouldn't say that. If anything, I said the Diorama is not guaranteed to have the same longevity as the timeless Lady Dior, but at the moment, the Diorama is selling so well that this may change.

I am pretty sure the diorama is going to stay and become a classic like the lady Dior because it is one of the top sellers at Dior. Very unlikely to be discontinued in the future.
