I got the Manuela today… I really really like the Madame and I was hoping to add it to my wardrobe but I feel Manuela is more me... (maybe one day I will but in a lighter colour:smile:
Something I've noticed today - the black material of Madame attracts a lot more fluff compere to the Manuela which is not something to overlook when you are deciding on a black coat.
As for the size, IT 38 feels a good fit for me, I tried it with my thickest jumper:smile: and it was absolutely fine, the length of the sleeves is good (I had to alter the sleeves on my IT42 Manuela because they were a tad too long for me) and I feel that it still has that loose fit but not as much as the IT42.
Here are some pictures of the Manuela, I deliberately kept the same outfit as yesterday to compare it with the Madame but please excuse my choose of footwear, just wanted to see how it looks with flats and trainers at the same time
I would love your opinion on it xx

P.S. The La Ligne Mini Toujours striped sweater looks amazing!

If I had to pick a black coat I would definitely pick Manuela. .. as matter of fact I was looking for a black coat aswell.
The coat looks very elegant on you! I prefer the black over the camel colour on you.... I'm now tempted to try now the Manuela!
Can you get the arm length tailored at any place or do they also require a specific stitch like the Madam?

Thank you
Probably because of the specific texture of Manuela, the colour black seams more intense and interesting, but the main difference for me was, as I mentioned before, the Madame attracts a lot more fluffs and IMO it would be harder to keep it looking "clean", where with Manuela this doesn't seem to be an issue.
For the sleeves -The sleeves on Manuela have the same stitch as the Madame. It took me forever finding a way to do the sleeves on my Manuela:shocked: .
I bought the camel online from Flannels (UK based retailer). I asked Max Mara if I could have it done by them but I was told that they don't do alterations (I don't know if you buy it directly from them it would be any different but that's what they told me). I couldn't find anyone where I live in UK to do that specific stitch (I believe it's called a Pick Stitch). I was offered to have it done by hand, which wasn't an option for me, because I wanted it to look the same as the original. From what I understood, while trying to find a place to do it, the machine that does this specific stitch is an expensive professional machine and most likely found only in big factories (at least that is what everyone was telling me). In the end I manage to find a factory in Bulgaria last winter, while visiting my family, and they did a great job, the stitch looks exactly like the original one.
I know this probably does't help a lot but where you are might be easier to find a place to do it, this was just my personal experience here in UK.

If you get a chance, try the Manuela, and see how you fell in it (you might not need an alteration at all)
I love my camel Manuela and now I am so exited to have my new black one added to my wardrobe.
All Max Mara coats are beautiful, I hope you find the one you love the most!

I just purchased the Madame coat in Sand from the Paris Avenue Montaigne store! I took my regular size IT42 / US 8, which is also the size of my Manuela coat. I noticed that the texture of the Madame fabric varies a lot depending on the colour of the coat. The darker colours, especially espresso, felt a lot grittier and not as soft as the lighter colours. The white was the softest, followed by the sand. Overall I'm in love with this coat. I didn't think I would be since I generally prefer more fitted coats, but the slouchy style is so effortless and classic.

The service was horrendous at the Avenue Montaigne store though, do not recommend shopping there. I had a much better experience at the Rue St. Honore store but it was too late since I already bought my coat. The Avenue Montaigne store tried to give me a ripped dust cover. I asked for a new one but they said all of them are like this (??? makes no sense). After I insisted, they agreed to give me a new one. While I was waiting for service, I also asked for water from a SA who was just walking around not doing anything, and she told me to ask the SA who was helping me. It was just a weird experience from a supposedly high end brand.

Congratulations on your new coat! I am sure it looks fabulous on you. It was wise to buy your usual size to keep the oversized slouchy look.

Sand is a very pretty color. Colored coats are gorgeous as everyone usually has black or camel. You will for sure pop wearing your sand Madame!

I'm a big fan of mittens as I find them super warm and super cute.
If you like mittens, check these out: https://us.maxmara.com/p-4566062306002-ombrato-sand

I asked if they would make these in red for my Manuela, but they do not. The only gloves/mittens that come in red are the standard nappa leather gloves, but I've had those before in black, and they are just ok, not great.

Leatgher gloves are certainly not as cool as as mittens!
They have the mittens in sand so I wanted to share in case you might like them. The chain is super cute because you can hang the puffy mittens around your neck like photo below.

Congrats again on your coat! Let's all wish for a freezing cold winter so we can wear our new coats all the time!

Thank you so much! My manuela is in camel so I thought I already have a good camel coat. The sand is so pretty! I just steamed it last night so I can't wait to wear it.

The mittens are so cute! And knowing Max Mara, it'll be very warm. Are you going to get them?

I also received a dust bag that was ripped (ordered it online... returned it recently because the coat was too large). I contacted Max Mara online out of curiosity ...apparently you can't buy a replacement so you had your every right to demand for a non-damaged garment bag.... As for horrendous service.. think of Pretty woman shopping scene... :P
I had the option to order it in store but the attitude of the sales assistant turned me off.. so I buy everything online..

Yes, I bought them in white. Waiting for them to arrive... tick tick tick.
I purchased them on the Max Mara website, and shipping from that website to the US is so slow in my experience.
But... these mittens will be worth the wait.

I'm going to look like I have white paws!
Actually, white mittens may sound silly, but winter white coats and gloves/mittens really work for some reason. I love winter white, and I'm glad Max Mara does this shade. Winter white is super crispy to me.

I only bought it in store because we happened to be in Paris and you can save 50% off the Canadian price for when buying in Europe, otherwise I also prefer buying everything online. Shopping in Paris overall was a joke because there was basically nothing in stock. You have to wait in line for an hour just to be told there's nothing to buy. The only thing I bought was the Max Mara coat, but I'm glad I was able to get that because I saved a lot of money!

Max Mara's white is BEAUTIFUL. I was tempted by the white 101801 because it looked so dreamy, but it's just not practical for every day.

Congrats on the mittens! Can't wait to see them when they arrive.

Ah yes... also in Germany.. shortage of stocks which I found abit strange. I ended up into 2 neighbouring cities Düsseldorf and Cologne.. all out of stock. Tried one coat in a different colour just to check for size... than got attitude from Sales assistants that I should order through them at their store and not online. I'm glad you managed to save alot of money. It helps with getting it tax free!

Weird that they gave you attitude for buying online when they don't even have the stock available in store! It's more of a hassle to shop in store because what if the product you receive has issues with quality (like mine), you have to go through the store to get an exchange/return. It's just much easier to buy online.

Enjoy wearing your new Madame coat! This coat in sand is absolutely stunning! If you could post some pictures here would be lovely.
I visited Edinburg this weekend and I the first thing I did was to go to the Max Mara store:smile:, the service there was actually great. I really loved the Madame in the lighter shades, I tried the Sand, Cacha, Camel and Tobacco. I wanted to see the Antracite and the Cacha scuro but they didn't have them in store. I also noticed a difference in the texture of the coats, the lighter shades felt a bit softer than the darker Tobacco. I was really tempted to get the Cacha, I think this was the colour that suited me most and I liked it a lot more on me than the black Madame, but since I just got the black Manuela, I decided to leave it for now:angel: The short Teddy jacket was also beautiful!
