Dear all, I am very happy to recieve my Mulberry Baywater yesterday which was shipped from U.K. As it is in oak leather, i hv bought a collonil leather gel and a waterstop spray. As to avoid water marks from getting onto the bag, i hv already used the waterstop spray on my bag once received yesterday.

However, should I start applying the leather gel now before use? Or should I do this after using for a period of time?

Did you buy it new? I think the mulberry boutique would've given it a colonial gel coating before it was sent to you. I think it's ok to apply the gel later on but either way, it doesn't really matter as you have waterproofed it already. Usual course for me is to gel coat it then waterproof spray it.

Congratulations on your oak Bayswater - a real "classic" Mulberry!
I tend to spray my bags every season, to give it them a good waterproofing, and only gel when the leather appears a little dry. An effective method is to spray all over (but don't drench the leather), allow it to dry and then buff the bag using the inside of the dust bag.
Carry her in the very best of health! [emoji253]

I agree with @Mayfly285 moisturising too much can make the leather very floppy, I just do it if it looks dry. Sometimes I just treat the corners, not the whole bag. And wipe off the hardware after you've sprayed with protector, as it can leave a residue. I hope you enjoy your bag and don't forget to post some pictures :-)

Yes! I bought it new! Thx for yr opinion. I now keep spraying it for once a week in the first month. And I will apply collonil gel once the leather looks 'thirsty' :-)

Afternoon many years of lusting after a Bayswater (and watching the price shoot up), I finally caved and bought a small Bayswater in oak from House of Fraser. As I'm under 5ft, the strap is too long for me so I was wondering where I should take the strap to get a few holes punched in? (I live in rural Lincolnshire) Also, I noticed that my bag didn't have a 'made in' label, is that normal? Sorry about the many questions, it's my first ever mulberry purchase and I normally don't spend that much on bags :).

Have you checked the pocket? Sometimes they hide them in there. Any good cobbler will punch a hole for you.

I'm so conflicted with the new model that came out last year at the moment......I just found a good deal on an as new one on Fashionphile and came to me two days ago, but its quite heavy with laptop and folders, don't know if I can deal....and don't see how this would fit under seat on plane for work travel....and the edges of the flap top are flaking slightly, like the edge piping is flaking off....I still paid 800.00 for this bag at a discount BUT with these issues....I'm concerned. has anyone had flaking around edges of new bayswater as well?

Just bought my first new model bayswater a couple days ago. After two days of carrying it I too have noticed flaking around top edges from the suede lining. I'm not sure what to think of this, it kinda bothers me it kinda doesn't. The bag is lovely, fits well on my arm, and all things fit well inside.

yeah, I hear you ....as I'm still conflicted with my Fashionphile tags attached as just cant decide if I will keep it or now. stunning bag visually. very boss lady to me, far more sophisticated that the original version to me, however, there is something I adore about the original version......think its the versatility of it, can be worn to work or with jeans....the newer one is strictly a work bag.......nothing casual and relaxed about it. BUT this flaking is concerning. I suppose I can use it and see if it worsens and if so, sell back to Fashionphile in 3 months and take my losses. Just reminds me of my Tory Burch York tote and the flaking/chipping from the waxed edges of the handles.......
