It seems like the platinum heart is smaller than the WG.

Here it says the gold charms are all 16mm:

While here is says the platinum is .5 inches which converts to 12.7mm:

Yet they are both called size small:

:confused1: For those of you who have the small size how many mm are yours?

My size small in 18K yellow gold is 16mm. I know the size mini is 11mm. I hope this is helpful.

So I went to Tiffany today and they didn't have the small platinum heart in stock but the SA did say it's .5 inches which is smaller than the small silver.

I also found that the gold charms were smaller than the pendants...even though they were both 16mm, the charms were slightly thinner.

So out of all the open hearts I tried, the small silver and the medium rose gold looked the best. The rose gold had this beautiful warm glow to it, but I'm not sure if it's too big.

I only saw the rose gold charm (too small) but not the rose gold pendant, so many the rose gold pendant would be the perfect size. Or maybe I should just get the small silver, but I worry about it tarnishing!

^Thanks for the info. Do you know how much it costs to extend a platinum chain from 16" to 18"?
Tiffany never charged me to extend anything - you ask at the time of purchase and they do it for free...

I vote for white gold. I have many, many white gold pieces and they have never turned yellow. I wonder if that's something that used to happen but techniques are more advanced now and they solved the problem? All my white gold jewelry is 10 -20 years old and it still looks like white gold.

^I saw the white gold charm today and for some reason it looked grey! I even asked the SA to double check to make sure it was white gold because it didn't look anything like the colour of my husband's white gold wedding band.

While you're in the store, you should compare it to the silver and see how white gold is richer in colour. Silver is cold. I never look at platinum.

Are you considering rose gold now?

I actually thought the silver looked better, but don't like the fact that it will tarnish! Yes, I'm considering rose gold now!

Platinum is gorgeous and the most durable but as everyone said a lot more pricey too.

White gold is very pretty but not the best choice in a ring or bracelet that you will damage much more easily as it scratches a lot and will look ugly even if you take care of it.

Silver is the least favourable of the three unless you like the tarnished look which can look nice on antique pieces for example.

So if you were looking for earrings, necklaces or pendants white hold, otherwise platinum but it really does depend on your budget as there is a huge difference. All three are nice.
