The appearance of platinum vs silver and white gold

Not with Platinum. Polishing platinum does not involve shaving layers, it simply moves it back to fill in the "dents" made with wear. Platinum doesn't really scratch, it displaces. When gold is scratched you're actually removing metal, as is when it's polished. Platinum doesn't really scratch (unless you really get it on the right surface).

Interesting!

my white gold one is still brand new, I doubt it will need replating for a long time. I've owned many white gold pieces some of them I have had for 10+ years and they have never been replated or turned yellowish.:smile1:
have you decided on which metal you're leaning towards yet?

Leaning towards platinum but worried about it being grey and dull!

its definitely not the shiniest metal, but I think it keeps the focus on the sparkly diamonds:D
I bought my two gold dbty's from roberto coin because for the 5 diamond it was only 700/bracelet. the tiffany 5 stone was too expensive for me, and I wanted mine for layering. speaking about quality tiffany wins, but roberto coin has waaay better prices
good luck with your decision!

But I'm not getting the heart with diamonds! I'm thinking about getting the platinum DBTY bracelet with 5 diamonds. The website doesn't state how long it is, but for the other one with 6 diamonds it says it's 6.5 inches long, and the one with a single diamond is 7 inches. I hope it's at least 7 inches because 6.5 seems quite short. Is it supposed to be worn short so the diamonds don't flip over?

haha im a dbty addict. okay so....
the silver one stone pink sapphire is tiffany
the silver one stone tsavorite garnet is tiffany
the platinum 3 diamond is tiffany
the yellow gold 5 diamond is roberto coin
and the white gold 5 diamond is roberto coin

my favorites are the roberto coin because I love the clasp and the tiny ruby on it :smile1:

Me likey!

Platinum is my favorite, because I like the patina it gets over time. However, platinum is pricey. That is why I have white gold and sterling silver.
Platinum is also quite heavy, which is nice. :) And, if I am correct, it is more durable.

i know my platinum one is 7 inches...its a bit shorter then the others and they're 7.5
mine are shorter but still comfortable, my mom wears a yellow gold dbty and her wrists are tiny probably around 4 inches. I think they flip, but most of the time they are facing right side up.

^Thanks for the info. Do you know how much it costs to extend a platinum chain from 16" to 18"?

It should be for free but I don't think you need to do an extension since they can easily exchange the 16" for 18" by slipping off the heart charm. My platinum and diamond heart necklace (not elsa peretti so the chains were attached to the heart) was extended from 16" - 17" for free, but the SA told me they could even do it up to 18". Hope this helps!

Thanks! Why would extending platinum be free when it's about $10 an inch to extend silver and $20 an inch to extend gold?

Hm, no idea! I was also contemplating a yg dbty single solitaire diamond necklace and I was offered an extension for free on it as well but I decided on the pt heart necklace instead. I got it almost a year ago, so maybe practices have changed? Or maybe because the two necklaces I had been looking at have diamonds??

Sorry I don't have any answers. Maybe you should speak to your SA for more accurate info
