I'm contemplating getting a Favourite PM DE and was wondering about the magnetic closure.

Is it a strong magnet or a weak one? If I were to throw my bag around would the flap open easily and spill out the contents?

Is the magnet large? If I place something inside that's higher than the height of the bag and the flap moves higher, will the magnetic closure still reach? (I hope you can understand what I'm trying to ask!)

Also wondering what do you keep in the interior slot?

Sometimes i think the magnetic closure 'issue' seem way too sensationalized. I have an mm and its's not really an issue on mine

Not sure how big the magnet is on the pm. But on the mm it doesnt really seem big. If youre planning to put something higher than the height of the pm, have u considered getting the mm instead?

On the interior slot, i have been putting my cles in there lately.

I have the MM size not the PM. But since it has the same features other than size, here's my perspective... The magnetic closure has never been a problem for me. If you just put the right amount of stuff, the closure and magnet aligns properly so there would not be a problem. If you overstuff and the magnet does not align, then this will definitely make the closure less effective, naturally.


I have read the same concern about the flap opening easily or contents spilling out. If you are to shake and flip the bag around, there is no doubt that contents will fall out. As for normal use, it will not spill your things out. I have taken my purse to the theme park with kids. Although, I did not ride the roller coaster, there is still a whole lot of movement - my stuff did not fall out.


This magnet issue does seem to be overplayed imo. It really depends on how you plan on using your bag. For many of us, it's not a problem.


As for the interior slot - I have used it for cards, tissue, oil blotting sheets,...etc. If I don't use the chains, I sometimes tuck it in the pocket.

I ask because in the past 12 months I have lost/got stolen 2 wallets! I think a zip closure might be more secure but I like the look of the Favorite.

I intend to use this as a cross body bag only so you know how sometimes we'll swing the bag backwards? I also don't always set down my bag right. Often when I'm home I'll just throw it onto the couch and if the contents are going to spill out everytime then it's not for me.

Sorry to hear about your wallet being stolen. I know how that feels. Happened to me before.

I always use my favorite as crossbody. I'm pretty petite so it's too long to wear as a shoulder bag imo. I think if the bag was heavy/full and you throw it in the couch, it will likely spill out. If it has just the right load in it, it should be fine. Swinging back and forth, unless you do it really rigorously, will be ok.

Most of my bags have a more secure closure than the favorite. This bag is so cute that I had to get it. When I use the bag, I actually use a wallet that I can attach to the chain in the bag like an lv key pouch. I also hook my car key on the chain. I never use the chain to carry the bag, anyway. I know sounds crazy. But if it opens for whatever reason, I will not loose my keys and wallet.
