I loved reading everyone's stories! Here's mine:
I first saw tokidoki in Santa Cruz [where I attend the University], while I was riding the bus. One girl got on with the CUTEST bag that I immediately fell in love with! I think I must've freaked her out a little bit when I grabbed her bag, shoved it close to my face, and oooed and ahhed as if it were dazzling engagement ring encrusted with sparkling jewels. She was pretty pleased with my reaction, though, and told me the name of it before I had to hop off the bus - but I couldn't remember 'tokidoki' to save my life! Now I'll NEVER forget the name.
I work at Disneyland, and I see sooo many guests walking around with a purse - a Spiaggia, I think. The first time I was able to, I stopped one of the guests and asked her [politely] who made it [or where she got it from], and she very kindly wrote down the brand name for me. Now, in Downtown Disney, there is this crazy trendy little shop called Vault 28. I decided to check them out after my shift, hoping against hope that they carried tokidoki. No purses there, but they often got in shipments of the shirts and hoodies AND because I work at the resort, I got a 20% discount off of all of my purchases! WOOT!
From the Vault I've picked up the Moofia/Latte short-sleeved hoodie and the light blue Latte/Leche/Mocha shirt. I love them.
I only have one tokidoki bag [that is SO going to change]. Struggling student life, you know? I got it from a Macy's in San Diego. I only went to LOOK, I swear, but the Pirata gioco was marked off by 25% because it was a discontinued print. Trust me, I stood there for at least 30 minutes debating with myself and checking it over for any signs of damage. It was discounted because it was only one of two left. ^_^ Anyway, I decided to open up a Macy's account - I needed one anyway to build up good credit, and they always offer 15% off your purchase when you open a new account. It was ALSO red star weekend [a Macy's promotion for account-holders], so that brought on an extra 15%. When I got the bill, it turns out that I received another 15% off because they were having ANOTHER promotion for opening a new account. I was so juiced! I know I probably won't catch a deal like that EVER again, but it was a great way to kick off my collection. I ended up getting the $160.00 gioco for $67.00 and some change. How's that for smart shopping, mom?
I have lists now of every print I like and every bag style I like, and now everyone that knows me knows exactly what I'd like for my birthday and Christmas. XD I've also put them all up on game about spotting fake bags on ebay and in stores [thanks to the tokidokiblog].
I'm hooked. I'm so happy.
