I have been on the fence far too long with Dior handbags. My first Dior purchase was costumer jewelry about 15 years ago at boutique in Las Vegas Ceaser's Palace. It was a magical experience. I have looked at the Dior handbags, tote and Lady Dior medium for 5 years! For some reason, I did not pull the trigger on Lady Dior. I've always admired the quality. I got stuck in the Chanel cyclone. Over the past 10 years, buying, using, selling, buying, using, selling, buying Chanel handbags, SLG's and shoes.
The quality of Chanel is good, but Chanel has become less desirable, aloof, like finding a four leaf clover. I finally found a great SA who offered me that rainbow metallic and I passed on it.
Meanwhile, I watch my beloved patent leather black with classic gold with red interior increase in price in 2019/2020.
Due to resale value, I decided I would buy second hand. I have not found my bag, and when I opted for lambskin over patent, the seller (FP) would document the bag had a smell, or I saw flat quilts or structural wear.
With so many fakes and the fact resale of Dior has increased to almost 2018/2019 prices for pristine or like new bags, I am back to the drawing board.
I visited Dior last week and realized a Lady Dior medium is the only classic for me. The saddle, and the newer styles don't wow me, nor do they fit my body frame.
What I like about Dior is some of these bags are truly works of art. The Brutal Journey of the Heart and Toile de Jouy printed calfskin are amazing bags. Dior is the only designer (compared to Hermes, Chanel, Celine..) that goes out on a limb with unique beading, prints, textures. Years ago Dior did a reggae designed saddle, so cute.
Recently, I have sold a few other bags. Unless my Chanel mini rectangle comes to fruition by year end, my next bag will be Lady Dior.
I am over the resale value as that scared me. Then I realized how much I wasted on reselling Chanel and other bags and the price keeps upticking.
In the big scheme of life, these designer items are overrated. I want a special bag to cherish for years and years to come and that will be my Dior.
