Ooo, dont say that! I love halos on the cushion cuts, I need to be happy. If I did change anything I would have to be sneaky and do it myself. LOL.
I knew I still loved halos when I went to Tifanny's and tried on Novos.
NYC only had her ring half a year and she upgraded, maybe I should wait a few months and not a week. LOL. I do look at new rings all the time, shrinkage is what it is I guess. How sad of me.

Nah.....it's good to want things!! :p

My center stone is only a little over a carat and I have a feeling this halo is going to make it look like a sizeable rock!! It's all about the illusion!! :p

I also agree that cushions + halos = perfection. I am reminded of HW, my dream ring! hehe. But since my bf isn't an i-banker and we haven't won the lotto, the Sola is a wonderfully affordable version of it :p

And you should always get what you want, otherwise you will never be happy!!! Especially since it's your e-ring: you'll wear it for life!

Not to hijack your thread NYC (oh, who am I kidding....).....but I visited my jeweller's today and will be getting something similar to THIS one.....only I'll be retaining my beloved "double-claw prongs" and cathedral style band.

My halo will also be "round" as opposed to the cushion shape pictured here (unless y'all convince me otherwise ;)) Band will be approx 2mm w/ micropave 1/2 way down the shank.......

Fingers crossed it's made to my liking.....I won't be 100% until I see it!!!

This was a sample w/ a stone similar in size to mine. The ring is way too large, but gives the general idea.

^ I LOVE RB IN CUSHION SHAPED HALOS. That was my original plan!!! You get the brilliance and shine of a RB but in a cushion shape! I love it, I think it's unique and not done often. It's usually round in round halo, princess in square halo, cushion in cushion halo, etc. I think mixing it up will be different!

Was thinking the same....but I thought a round halo would look more polished perhaps??

A cushion shaped halo would be beautiful.......I can still change my mind!!! My ring hasn't yet been dropped off! ;)

Hehe, I hope other people join in and agree with me so we can sway you Contessa! :D However, round in round halo is also an excellent choice. Can't go wrong with either!

JMHO, I am not a fan of gaps. . .especially between the stone and the setting. Are you going to set it exactly as in that picture or will your jewelr set it so the stone fits perfectly in the halo?

There's NO gap in that setting or "airline" It's an optical illusion seen in the pic....just a shadow from the diamond. I'm not a fan of those either ;)

So, my stone will fit perfectly in the setting....no air, no gaps....just diamond within halo.....and the halo diamonds will all be prong set.

Really? Okay, that's good. I have seen a lot of RBs in halo cushions with and without seeing the gap/airline and didn't know that it was an optical illusion!! How interesting!

This was my original choice for my e-ring - very similar to what you picked Contessa!

And sjunky13, I think you should consider this as your next setting since you have a RB, you love cushions and you want a halo. It's perfect! :p

Contessa I like the halo! I 'm one of those who will try to convince you for a cushion shaped halo. It is the old recipe to make your center stone appear larger, the shape of the halo must follow the shape of the center stone.

Oh gosh I hate gaps and shadows... I was very insistent to the goldsmith about the setting, I didn't want any gaps, so I opted for a short head setting like the pic I attach. You may sacrifice a bit of light reflection but it is the most secure setting and no gaps and shadows.

The girdle actually touches the halo.;) This is a medium profile, there are even lower profiles, but they swallow the stone. A bezel set is a very low profile set...

Last Spring, I reset mt 1.25 round into a Hearts on Fire Halo. I couldn't decide between 2 different settings. Don't remember their names but I'm sure I can search it on my old threads. Anyway, one setting had that airline. And the other was exactly flush so no space in between. I almost did the airline one. I think it was a little less money too. But all the people on forum convinced me to go with the other one. After seeing risingsun's amazing pics of hers, I copied her! It might be called "significance" or "repertoire". I have no regrets - it is beautiful. Contessa's new setting will be too! Enjoy.

I LOVE that pic Kohl! I've been searching for a cathedral pave halo and they're difficult to find. That one is like my current ring only halo'd! Which is what I want....and NO gaps!!!

OMG, that is gorgeous!!! Contessa, you nailed my cofffin. LOL. I love the cushion with the RB, LOVE. wow.

Yes.....can't get it out of my head.....must do it. There's nothing like a classic solitaire....I will admit that.....but the halo keeps calling my name.

Stunning Lily! I truly value your opinion, so thank you for this :hugs:

I love it, but will be having them set it w/ the height I have now....maybe 1mm lower, but this is exactly what I'm looking for. I may start another new thread.

Thanks Hokaplan. Looks like many of us will have some lovely reveals coming up soon. :smile1:

Contessa - I  your ring!!! It's going to look so unbelieveably beautiful when it's done!!! I know think you need another band to sandwich!!!! :p

Mine will have slight gaps between the stone and the halo because I"m setting my round stones in a square setting. The jeweler that I ordered from, sent me a photo of what it will look like with set stones (he used blue stones so I could really get an idea) and the stones are bigger in this setting than my ring, but you can get the idea.

What do you think???

P.S. Contessa - totally cool about the hijacking!!! :p

I think it'll be okay - since your stone is white/clear and the setting is silver, the gaps will blend in. I can't wait to see it finished!
