Struggling to find a bag to match an outfit, any brand

I would go with what others are saying and stick with a classic-colored bag (black or some kind of neutral) that you can reuse later.

Having a bag of an “unusual color” (however pretty) might not have as much re-wearability. Plus, if your hubby is already getting frustrated by extra expenditures, I’m concerned this could cause an unnecessary strain in your relationship.

A small black bag (IMO, the “easiest” color for matching) would be nice with that fabric, since it has black accents already.

Yes. My shoes did the same thing to me when I hit a certain age.

+1 on the raffia /cream/ beige bag. If it’s going to be so hot you need a fan, purple will “feel” hot too.
That is hilarious and very timely. I’ll be going to dressier work events soon—first time since COVID—and I was shocked to find out how tight my patent leather high heels are. Now I’m trying to “loosen” them up by wearing them around the house. I’d like to think that they’ve “shrunk” too, haha.

At least there are several different different purples to choose from if you go that route.

If you already have a little off-white, beige or black bag bag I would go for that. A little black bag is just going to blend and won't make the outfit 'heavy' like a big black bag could. My pref would be t shop from my own closet (if I have something already)

You could also go for lilac, greyed-sea-foam green, silver, light gold.
Off white or beige bag and maybe strappy black sandals, both items you probably already own

my shoes are always too tight or too loose. I have to break in the same sandals every summer Lol

Absolutely love the print of the dress. My thought is that the shoes and purse should be understated so as to not call attention away from the dress. I would have complete confidence in accessorizing in beige or off white because it is a summer event or black (if I couldn't find anything good-looking enough in beige).

My shoes have shrunk too! Is this a new kind of epidemic targeting leather shoes?

Don’t give up on shoes that are feeling snug. My latest trick is to put on a pair of thick socks and shove my foot in. It may take a couple if tries, but I found it works. I also have shoe stretchers that work well. Your feet aren’t even going up a half size, they just spread a little lol! Shoes are too expensive to give up on.
