Hello fellow tPfers! I’ve been placed on Ban Island, but have a credit at my local store. Any suggestions as to how I can transfer it? (Admins, please delete if not allowed). Thank you in advance!

I had a $3500 credit due to a return in February 2017. I didn’t have my eye on anything for the longest time either, so the credit sat there. There was definitely no option for me to turn this into cash; however, I never asked if it could be transferred to someone else. I ended up using it on an SO Birkin in August 2019.

I would advise to wait and hold onto the credit until there is something you like. It’s bound to happen at some point, no?

Hold on to your credit as the new collection is starting to come in.If you don't see something now for spring/summer
perhaps fall winter. Just be patient. Something will turn up perhaps sooner than you expect.

Hermes stores your credit info in their system under your account. I don't see how you can transfer it to someone else... it would be very complicated as are most things with Hermes. You could go to the boutique with that person u are gifting it to and use it that way...

Ive seen offers like this a few times on Craigslist or FB marketplace. FB would be a safer place to try that imo.

Thank you all for the responses! I have been sitting on this credit for a year now and I am a little discouraged that I don’t have nothing on my radar to use it on and would love to free up those funds. I am newer to Hermes (and entry level!) so with this, i also have questioned if Hermes is for me :-s

Honestly, I hate having store credit. If a store has a “return for exchange only” policy I think five times as much even when buying things I know I want to keep (I’m not much of a returner). And maybe you’re like me too, because if I have credit I can’t seem to like ANYTHING in that store whereas in stores where they let me return for cash, I often end up just picking something else on the same return trip.

As somebody else said on this thread, as with many other things, doesn’t surprise that Hermes makes this more difficult too. BUT if you’re trying to buy someone a gift (and not just sell the credit), you could go with them to the store.

Otherwise, depending on the amount, there’s a high chance you can buy something that you can sell right away for little to no loss.

I am exactly just like you and this has for sure been a lesson learned when it comes to store credit only policies! I am taking note of all these suggestions and hopefully I’ll find what works best!
