Tech Still shots from a DVD?

Does anybody know of a free program to get still shots from a DVD? We went diving with the dolphins on our vacation and bought the dvd, and I would like to get some pics from it but I dont know how

Please help

Waayyyy back when, I used a DVD player released by nvidia that had an inbuilt screencapture buttion, which was incredibly easy and handy, but now I can't seem to find it again :/ Currently, I use VLC media player to screencap videos. You can download it here - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - and the keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot is shift+s
