Hi everyone!
I'm starting this thread because I would like to know your opinion - I want like to create a small luxury jewellery collection that is quite versatile, and a kind of a statement status, but affordable
I do not have a budget for Alhambra, Messika or Cartier yet, but still would like to get something iconic and recognisable.
My only one idea is Hermes Clic H bracelet - I can find it on VC for a good price and it looks very chic...
I also have Chanel CC earrings for evening, but have to repair them every 3 month, they just break and loose all the crystals...

Are there some other pieces that you can recommend me, that look expensive, but do not cost over 1000 EUR?
Earrings, necklaces, rings?

Thank you in advance !

In my view, costume jewellery at the price of Chanel's is a waste of your money. It would be wiser to buy precious metals/stones jewellery.

The small items in Hermès gold, like the Chaine D'Ancre earrings, are forever pieces, understated but still status, that look expensive. If you can buy from a trusted resale source you will save 30-50%, but you need a trusted reseller.

If your budget is around 1000€ per piece, not 1000€ in total, I might suggest you save up for one iconic piece that you love (Love bracelet or whatever really floats your boat) and then the rest of the smaller pieces you choose can revolve around it. Also, if you are wearing a high end piece like a Love or JuC, you can wear inexpensive CZ studs, etc., and people will assume they are real. No one looks closely at "diamond" earrings (just IMO). Bracelets, rings, and necklaces get more scrutiny.

You will struggle to get ‘iconic’ in that price range (at least in 18k gold or platinum rather than silver), but there are some accessible pieces by luxury brands such as Cartier, Tiffany & Co and Gucci in the £500-£1000 bracket.

I don’t know your taste but Cartier’s smaller model Trinity, Love and JUC rings fall around the £1k or just above mark. I have attached some links below:-

Cartier Trinity ring (small model) - I have this one and it looks great and as big as I’d personally want to go with a three band ring on my finger - £880:

Cartier Love wedding band - £1010:

Cartier JUC SM ring - £1070:

Can you tell us a little more about your personal style? What metal colour do you favour? Do you like dainty pieces or favour a bolder look?

I understand VCA and Cartier are considered the higher “status” brands but imho the premium paid for them aren’t worth it and they’re too ubiquitous.

With 1000 Euros per piece, I wouldn’t get Hermes or Chanel costume pieces. I’d say focus on classic gold and gemstone pieces, like a DBTY necklace (this doesn’t have to be designer) and a recognizable ring or bracelet from Tiffany or Dinh Van - established jewellers but not insanely marked up. Hermes gold is actually very reasonable too.

I wouldn’t get costume, metal jewellery…I’d save to get ‘iconic’ piece…or would go for silver like sth Tiffany&C. I still wear their silver pieces and I am over 40
Seconding this. I’m rediscovering T&Co silver (in my late 20s) and loving it! I keep reading that silver is back on trend, and the price point is obviously excellent. T&Co offers some of the best design available in silver. For the design, solid construction and post-sales service, I think some of their silver pieces are actually quite a deal.

Doesn’t get more iconic than bone cuff or Return to Tiffany’s, toggle…and many more :)

I’m 42 but me too! I dug out my silver toggle necklace to wear today - hadn’t worn it for a few years - and got so many compliments! I love the look and quality.

Generally speaking, I also hold the opinion that custome jewelry is actually not worth the money you pay for it - when I review the threads in which the poor quality of eg Chanel brooches was reported, I think to myself that it is then doubly annoying, because you buy something anyway, which has no inherent value, and apparently also in poor quality ... so for me it would not be my piece of cake.

With silver it is unfortunately similar, here too the markups are horrendous, but at least you have a precious metal, which is why I would exclude Hermès from the list of "not to buy". Hermès has excellently crafted silver jewelry that also looks a bit more grown up than Tiffany's. (no offense, I like Tiffany's.)

This one, for example, I find very beautiful, it counts as a statement piece in my opinion.
Otherwise I would look at real real, there you can find eg really great jewelry, used but with a pretty big discount.

Edit: haven't seen these in person, but maboussin makes pretty jewellery in 585 / 750 gold:

and, of course blue nile

Who do you want to show up as?
Artistic? Elegant? Expensive? Edgy?
Who are your style icons?
What kind of jewelry do you like?

Before buying Hermes, do you even like bangle bracelets?

If you like bold and artistic, look for chunky sterling pieces like Elsa Peretti, Lapponia or Georg Jensen, or brass pieces like Herve van der Straeten or Alexander Calder

If you like delicate and luxurious, the VCA sweet line might appeal - its a little outside your budget ($1500) but is lovely and identifiable. (Probably buy those new because of fakes) Pearls or Diamond studs, DBTY or Cartier Legers. Hermes 18k pieces (preowned) might also be good.

If you have more of an edgy aesthetic, maybe Hermes CdC? Or Solange Azagury-Partridge pieces?

I can make a thousand suggestions, but you need to decide how you want to show up.
