Thanks, Swanky, my very reason for asking the question. Also, when having a diamond set in a tension setting, the girdle stats will be of importance. As always, Chaz' expertise in the jewelry business, is much appreciated:yes:

Hi Sun!! Thank you for the compliment!! As always I just say as I see,I think I have read so many certs and graded so many stones, that when I see stats,I start getting a picture in my head from my 'memory' bank if you like.

Its weird, when you get to a certain level, and have stone merchants you trust and 'talk' the same language, you can practically grade over the phone.I had one guy whose use of language, and I knew his level of stones so well,he could describe a stone as white, but 'slatey, and cold. Or a white that was 'soft' with a beautiful dispersion, and I'd see it in my head.He would often say that one stone would 'talk' more than another and I knew exactly what he meant.

Its also worth noting that these tiny factors such as 'slatey' appearance or 'soft' appearance also play a big factor in determining price per carat too.You can see it for yourself sometimes when you look at two stones together, both can have the most amazing and stats and be completely the same on the four c's,but one for some reason will just take the lead for you. Its that factor of why I always say,you have to look in person before dismissing a stone when you have only had access to certs.

I still find this an amazingly interesting subject, how something that has so many bases in science can move a heart so much.

Oops! Double post...

Coz I'm always finding daft little things like this that tickle me!!!

Seriously though,I can come across a bit techie and austere at times, especially when sometimes I'm scrambling to get info out,I forget to word it in a little more of a freindly, chatty tone. And its so easy to lose that when its the typed word and the person in front of you, does'nt see the passion its meant with,it just looks snotty!! So I thought a little lightness in my signature would translate a little for me as to what I'm like!!!

And as a person I can get quite passionate about things, but I also love to banter, mess about and be daft!!!!

Chaz, someone would have to be new or blind not to "get you", you're a sweetheart!

Thank you Swanky, you're such a lady!!!!

You don't know how nice that is for me to read!!!! I do get worried sometimes when I'm putting a point over,or having to contradict someone a bit, that I come across as a really haughty 'know all',and what I have to say is the be all and end all.

The only times I do put another side across is I don't want less experienced ladies to get totally panicked,so I'll try and take the effort to labour the point a bit,to put things another way thats a bit less nerve wracking!!! I find the jewellery trade is so mysterious and 'closed' to the average shopper, that a slight whiff of drama or uncertainty is all it takes to spoil what should be a wonderful shopping experience. So I try and de-code it a little and make it a bit more user freindly and enjoyable.

Being where I am has kind of taken away all the 'magic' of jewellery shopping for me,but I do love it when people share on here,it makes me remember all the customers I have assisted, and the look on their face when you pair them up with their dream peice!! I wish you could bottle that shine in their eyes, just gorgeous!!!

Yay! 1ct Round!! I bet it will look great. Looking at the stats, I don't think your stone is crappy (it depends how much you paid for it though) but the clarity seems good, especially if you were on a budget.

About the girdle, it depends on what seting you will choose. If the setting exposes the diamond, a thin girdle makes the diamond vulnerable to chips and damage.

Wear your diamond with pride!

It looks like you did fine with your diamond purchase and the cut looks good. Actually a thin girdle isn't usually an issue regarding durability, very thin can possibly be, but usually thin is fine.

I definitely agree with the experts. It's good that you have covered all your bases to make sure that the diamond you bought will be perfect for the setting you chose. :)
The price also seems great for the quality you got! Lovely setting and I wish you the best. ;)
