St Louis strap/handle cracking/breaking/wrinkling problems

I skimmed through this thread, and it seems like you have tried your best at getting it resolved with the company itself. Hopefully you paid with a credit card, just call them up and they should resolve it for you.

Unfortunately it remains unresolved because Goyard is unwilling to come to a resolution on this issue. They do not believe the bag is faulty because they believe cracked handles after three months of light use is just the natural evolution of the bag. Their only solution to this problem is having me fork out another 220 to replace the handles. That is not going to happen. So at this point I am resorting to other avenues. It doesn't matter to me. I'll file multiple complaints. I think it's time people put their foot down and stand up for what is right. Two years ago I bought a Chanel wallet that wound up with a bad zipper after just three months. I took the wallet to a boutique to get it fixed and just in one glance at the wallet the sa tsked the wallet and said that should not have happened. Five minutes later, I had a new wallet and I hadn't even asked for one. That is good service. The Goyard after service is nonexistent in my personal experience. I asked Goyard to simply replace the handles due to the cracking. They refused to do it free of charge. This is a clearer photo of the cracking which in my opinion looks worse after it went to Goyard which is odd. I haven't used it since it's been back and now it's four months old because Goyard took a month to review it. There are also issues with the review process which I won't go into here. Hi Shelly319, Wow I am so sorry to hear this. I have my St Louis GM without any problems (black/black) but I have to say it will be my last St Louis. I just can't handle the gamble of wondering whether my next bag will come from an unlucky batch. I think you are right in your position and I would have been just as upset as you are had this happened to me. I just can't handle the stress and I have read enough horror stories on this forum about the quality control of St Louis tote that I won't buy another one, even with the good experience I have had so far. Every time I use my bag I wonder if this will be the day my bag straps start to break or holes will start to appear- just too unpredictable. Please I do hope you keep us updated. I think you are a lawyer? I think it's great that you know the proper channels and avenues to take to stand up for yourself and all of the others that have been rejected by Goyard after legitimate complaints on their defected bag designs.

By the way, I can't seem to view your recently attached photo. Is there any way you can attach the photo again? Thank you!

So did you pay with a credit card? If you did you should call them, it has only been four months, they should have a process to help you.

Terrible to see this as i just purchased my first Goyard bag. Let us know how the story continues with the consumer agencies involved.

Yep still waiting to hear from one avenue I'm taking. They have reached out to Goyard but no response yet. I'm working on a second avenue now. Check out their twitter feed. Apparently I'm not the only client that has been treated poorly

With customer relations like that i hope they go bankrupt. Not willing to take responsibility for the customer or the faulty design is just ignorant.

Here it is. The attachment before isn't working now. Strangely it looks worse than before and this was taken the day I got this back from Goyard. They said the bag still looks great so I should wait until the handles get worse before replacing. LOL. The funniest part about the customer service is when you talk to them on the phone they are rude but over email they come across as nice but niceties don't mean anything if the customer complaint isn't resolved and the complaint arises from a faulty bag. And again I used this bag a dozen times over three months and did not carry anything heavy in it.

$400 to repair handles is bananas! I asked an LV boutique how much it would be to redo the leather along the top seam of my MM Neverfull and I think they quoted $50-100.
I am sorry that this is happening to people. Not good. I was under the impression that they made top notch bags, maybe its just the STL. Idk. Will stay away from and not recommend till.further notice.

If you purchased this bag with a Visa, ask them to do a chargeback. It is a process, but well worth it. With quality such as this, you will win. Just make sure you document everything and take lots of photos to back up your claim. This is truly unacceptable. I also have a St. Louis GM that I fully expect to go south on me. I have not even owned it a year and stupid me broke the cardinal rule and added my initials and stripes. Big mistake, as the corners of the stripes started peeling after about a month. Overall, I still love Goyard. Will I purchase another, probably not. For now, I will wear this one until the handles and corners fall off. Good luck.

I can't do a charge back unfortunately. Just as an update on this, I have requested a consumer org to assist with the dispute. Goyard has not responded yet and it's now going on nearly three weeks. Additionally I have filed a complaint with my state consumer protection agency. We shall see what happens. I will never ever buy another Goyard knowing this is how they treat their clients. If you buy a product and it goes south and it's still within a reasonable time frame you are SOL.

I wish you luck. It truly is a shame the position these designer companies take when it comes to shoddy workmanship and quality. I have sworn off LV canvas bags as well. If you want a longevity get leather. Longchamp has wonderful quality as well as many styles. Stay away from LV Neverfull,as the Vachetta leather trim will ultimately crack. I know because I sold my first generation bag because of this. Not worth the money.

I didn't know the leather trim cracked. I have two in my collection unfortunately lol. I had problems with the ebene cracking just after a year but my mother wanted the bag so I gave it to her. I have had the others for about a decade now and so far no issues thankfully. The problem it seems also with Goyard is that their quality is inconsistent. I have friends who have had no issues and on here TPFrs have said they have had no issues. But there have been enough other forum members who have had problems with cracking bags and enough YouTubers who have complained about cracking bags that it is apparent it is an issue. My main beef with the company is they know these handles crack yet they are doing nothing to make better handles and keep selling the bag.
