I'm in the minority I suppose but I voted for the Goyard.
I have one and it's been my go-to bag for the park, etc. and during the summer months.
My mother borrowed it for a cross-country road trip and she had no idea how much $ the bag cost. So she treated it as such as she's not into designer items in the least.

It held up fine and still no cracking or wear. I've had it for about 1-2 years now.

Do you know of Goyard bags lasting longer than, say 10 years and still looking reasonably conditioned? It seems that many of the posts I have encountered on the brief ventures to the Goyard forum are of St. Louis owners who have had the bag for 3-4 years or less. I love the subtle beauty of the St. Louis and the exclusivity of Goyard, but I want to make sure I'll be getting my moneys worth!

Well I've read in the LV fourms some people have had issues with the damier ebony handles cracking. I have a bloomsbery (crossbody bag) and I haven't had any issues with it but maybe it's less prone to cracking due to how it's worn. I have a damier azur galleria which I think I use more in the winter than in the summer lol. That is my one and only light colored bag. It dose have some light color transfer on the back of it and the leather is dirty & starting to patina. As much as I like it if your really looking for a bag in the long haul I'd pass on the azur because it will show wear easier than the ebony will.

Also I'd suggest bringing the items your planing to carry with you when you try on these bags. Honestly I'd be a bit concerned about how comfortable either of the bags will be once filled up that much stuff because of the skinny shoulder straps. I'd think it be very uncomfortable JMO. I'd consider looking at something with a bit wider shoulder strap so the weight would be more evenly distributed .

love goyard. have the st. louis gm. no problems to date.

but, the longchamp totes are very hardy, not too expensive, and you can customize on the french website. have had one for several years -- the zipper is a plus. it's my shlep around bag when I am traveling -- nothing falls out when it falls over etc.

Love my Neverfull. Keep my purse coin pouch water bottle iPad iPhone and diapers! Mine is Damier Ebene because I don't like mono. I got it heat stamp and accessorize it with LV bag charm. I personalize my bag because otherwise I feel that I fall into general LV user. I intend to hand down to my only daughter or to my granddaughter if I live longer. However I found it that it give you shoulder ache if I keep too many stuff. Hence I bought cross body bloomsbury. I have 2 small kids under 4 so LV canvas is the best bag for my current lifestyle. Last time my girl spilled chocolate drink onto my NF and simply wipe away with wipes and dry it with clean cloth. Phew imagine if it is Chanel?! Go LV NF :)

Interesting point! Does anyone have input regarding the above?
Also, would LV personalize my bag (I'm thinking heat stamping...) if I had purchased it pre-loved?

Discovered this post just now ^_^ Maybe we can all come up with a compilation of the date codes of the defective LV damier ebene NFs, and those that are not defective. Afterall, the letters signify the specific factory/place where it came from. Maybe it's not really the date.

I voted for the LV Neverfull; however, what kind of grad school are you considering?

Truthfully, I love designer bags. I have a Neverfull MM in DE that I wear constantly ... the pattern is nice & understated and the style of the bag is so functional.

That said, for a "school bag," I think the Longchamp is a better option if you don't get an actual computer bag. In law school I had a hideously wonderful green three compartment computer bag that my BF got me one birthday ... I LOVE THAT BAG. It was wonderful and kept plenty of space for my laptop, power cord, case books, folders, candy (to stay away in class on 20-hour days), a pair of heels, and everything else I needed on a daily basis. I also carried a smaller purse (I had the YSL large, not oversize, muse back then).

I suppose if you are in grad school you might not need a bag that sturdy and big. I think the straps on both the NF & St. Louis are going to become an obstacle to carrying all that you want, especially if you are walking a lot.

That is a potentially, wonderful idea!

I will be attending grad school in regards to a language that I study/teach.

The Longchamp tote is comfy, but not structured or polished enough for my dressing preferences. At this time, I plan to carry 1-2 books and my iPad. With my usual day-to-day belongings inside, I want a tote that will have space for a cardigan and/or small lunch bag (with candy, too! hehe) without looking overstuffed. Would you consider the Neverfull GM a fitting model for my needs?

Also, legaldiva, I would like to see a pic of this infamous green bag! :p

I have had the better part of the year to consider my purchase, and with all of the helpful input from you lovely TPF'ers, I am drawing near to the DE Neverfull GM.

It's in my hopes to purchase this bag as a Christmas gift to myself, so any additional input/advice offered before Christmastime would be very appreciated!

For me it would be neverfull better than gouyard. My mom has the white gouyard, very usefull to her because she carries lots of stuff but now it looks very dirty and soggy. Mine is neverfull , i carry lots of things too, like ipads etc.... But still looks nice.
