^Thanks! I love the Limo Cabat, but I find it heavy when I put stuff in it. It keeps its shape. I like to keep the sides folded in to keep the opening smaller. The bag is quite big when the sides are untucked.

Thanks. I'm going to see what colors are currently being offered in the Large Cabat in Vachette. I know they are offering Absinthe this season, but I do not know what the "classic" colors are in Vachette. Any ideas? Did you consider Goat skin when making your choice?

I think I've seen either bronzo or uniform in vachette but I those are mainly done in the uomo size. I don't think there is much availability on classic colors such as ebano or nero in vachette...there was a large greyish cabat in stiffer skin a couple months back...you can always make a SO with the color/leather combo you like though...everyone on the fifth avenue store is very nice and helpful...you should definitely go in and ask around

The colors I've seen for the Vachette Cabat are: Bronzo, Limo, Noce, and Nero.

I got mine in S/S 07, when the Limo came out. My next Cabat would be the Ossidato Cabat.

i would not recommend it because of the weight but it is so beautiful.

Is Ossidato a Vachette or Nappa? What about the other metallics. I can't really tell and most members don't specify. I know you will know the answer.

Gorgeous and a nice photo. I like the color very much. BV's goatskin doesn't look as shiny or as grainy as Hermes. Perhaps it is just the photo. I'm not that concerned about weight. I have carry some very heavy bags on a daily basis.

thanks.
this cabat is matte and very tonal. the multicolor cabat from a couple of years ago was more similar in shine to the hermes chevre.
the bv ottone is also goat skin and quite wonderful.
i usually don't mind a heavy bag but this is really heavy.
anyway hth.

The metallic Cabats that were made are: Ossidato chevre (oxidized vintage looking golden brass color goatskin), Ottone chevre (gold goatskin), and Peltro (silver sueded calf).

Ottone and Peltro are already sold out, so if you want these you need to special order them. I think the Ossidato is still available because it's still fairly new from S/S 08. I really like the Ossidato because it's not too heavy, not too prone to scratches, the leather is supple yet soft to the touch... oh, I so want one now...

If you like the more structured look, then go for the Vachette. You can mold it to the style you like (tucked or untucked), but it is still very structured and does not flop.

Let me know if you have more questions.

BTW, check out post #33 for the ossidato

Actually the ossidato is made from barcelona calf...it feels close to clemence, but a little less squishy...if you know what I mean...I love it though...very hardy and easy to use and it's about the same weight as a 35cm birkin in clemence when loaded...this is an old picture of my large ossidato and there are a few action shots in the action section too

sorry for hijacking the tread...

Thanks for the info. I'm dying to see one in person.

Thanks for taking the time to educate me! I can't wait to see an Ossidato in real life. I wonder if there is one on Fifth Ave?

spendalot, soon - pieces from SS are 'slowly' starting to arrive... :yahoo:

Oooooh - can't wait for piccies!!

In the meantime, has anyone seen any of the non-metallic SS09 colours like Tea, Cinnamon, Saffron. How do they compare to Noce? Darker, lighter, redder, yellower, browner? In some pictures Noce and Tea look quite similar, then in others Noce and Cinnamon do, and then in others Noce and Saffron look like they could be close. And is the Burnt Orange from SS09 different than the Resort Burnt Orange? One looks more Orange and the other more Burnt. I'm so confused...
