Which really aren’t that expensive. I have an Arpege for one of my horses and it cost less than a Birkin (and I was offered basically my choice of bags to go with it)

also it’s a beautifully made saddle and wonderful to ride in. I never much cared for their older models but the new ones are quite good.
oh, hahaha, I see.

As for spend ratio, I’ve never had to spend 1:1 or anything like that. But I’ve been buying from the same store(s) for nearly 20 years. I imagine it’s different for someone just coming in now. This works out for me because at this point there’s only very specific colors/colorways/items I want and there’s no point in buying a bunch of random things - I have enough.

I saw the craftsman demonstrating making a saddle at the Windsor Horse Show…
Seeing the work involved… I don’t think I can or want to make one myself even if someone pay me £5740…

Most definitely in light of the current horse market. A hunter that is able to place at top rated shows will easily set you back six figures and I’m not talking low six figures.
I ride dressage, where prices are (generally, outside of top international contenders) more reasonable - but any horse has to eat. I laugh when people say that a bag must not be real if the person wearing it doesn’t wear expensive clothes or drive an expensive car - my Porsche sits in a field and eats grass  and a pair of breeches can be $400 only to get arena dirt and slobber on them!

Having done some research...
In London it appears that livery can cost more than some people's rent...

Although I know it's not going to be easy, you should try to space out your purchases and really slow down. It's too easy to spend on everything you see that's available, but you run the risk of "burning out". Give yourself time between purchases to enjoy them fully. It's disheartening that your SA was pushy at your last meeting, but I strongly recommend NEVER buying anything you don't want/like just to please your SA. I've said NO to mine plenty of times when he's offered me things that I did not like.
I would definitely try spacing your purchases or spending less at each appointment. Unfortunately for me, my SA/SM are used to me coming in a lot and now I am not able to come in as much. I received a comment about it even though my spend is high, I have non leather on my request list and a lot of what I want isn't in stock. I suspect I would be better off coming in more often and spending less per visit. I had my first pushy experience last time I was there.
