it can happen...it happened for me and rather quickly. I think everyone's experience is different which is why I dont think people need to give a lot of weight to threads like this because this is all so subjective.
something I'd be interested in: what's about the loyal customers, who spend on a regular basis over 10+years and not within a year a huge amount? Sometimes I have the impression, that H is quick in, high amounts, quick out. That's sad. What's about the loyal scarf afficionade who buys 5 to 8 scarfs a year and won't qualify within the 1-year- period?
I am curious.
I actually really enjoy this thread discussion. I’m interested in hearing about the experiences of people who have been royal and consistent with the brand. I’ve learned so much more from the brand process and how it works by so, rather than the conversation of “how/what did you do to get your bag?”

it was more a rhetoric question ;). I already do have most of the bags I wanted from H, except for one. But thank you.

SA won't last longer that 13 months on average over here.
Ah i see. Happy that you already gotten most of what you wanted. :)

That’s the thing….my Understanding is that Hermes SAs are only average earners in their line of work. Their commission is not that great. Nonetheless, their job is really tough. Being sandwiched in between management and customers, dealing with so many rules and restrictions.

I’m thankful for my SA who is mostly frank and candid with me, but I am not sure how long she can last.

Yes, I would say the "true long-term Hermes" customer is probably only 5%-10% of the customer base. Most people's Hermes "Journey" is probably on avg. 2-3 years. I mean who can afford to casually spend $30K-$50K a year on bags and luxury for decades?

Yes. There are some people who do that. However, the question becomes, do you really want to allocate that amount to “H” budget every year?

i think it all depends how much you want a quota bag and if you want both quotas.
For me i am an average customer, work full time under corporate America. TBH i can only really do One bag this year.

I had an honest conversation with my SA that i am not ready for BK until later half of the year. I think if you have a trusting relationship with ur SA, it is good to be honest so she can just offer bags to those who ready for it. Maybe my SA is a unicorn and she actually thanked me for being honest and said she will get me something special when i am ready.

there could a lot of FOMO and bag chasing with H, i felt i overstretched my finances in the beginning of my journey… but just really helped my mental head space to be honest with myself and my SA. I hope this will just help with my own longevity with my brand and the store also.

I do buy small things like scarves to maintain contact with my SA thou when my wallet allows me to

Continuing this thread... my question is should I start buying items that I like or wait until I am ready for a bigger purchase?

There are a few smaller items I am interested in (sandals, blankets etc) however I am not in a position to buy a B or K for a number of years, maybe 5+. Would your spend accumulate over 5 years, or do they only look at let's say the last 12 months when offering bags? I am trying to think about the long term here and plan accordingly.

5 years is too long to make any plans.

If you’re able to find an SA you really get along with it wouldn’t matter. But even if they really like you and offer a bag with low spend would you be able to pick it up? It’s be super awkward if you couldn’t, right. If just an average sales relationship SA, honestly in todays environment in a competitive country they might forget you as a customer if you’re not spending at least 3k a visit on average. Based on recent shopping experience the kinds of items you’re describing in this post wouldn’t matter too much on a profile anyway, so you’re free to shop at your leisure, whenever and wherever until you’re ready to seriously aim at a bag and would be able to pick one up when offered.
So what I mean is, with the right angel SA they might be able to remember you for 5 years, let you build the profile slowly with whatever items you want then offer the bag after 5 years at just the right time. But in a competitive environment the chances of this is not very high, not impossible of course. Maybe shop around with different SA, propose this idea to them and gauge their reaction haha.

Depending on where you are, I’d generally say if there are items you love now, I’d say buy them and continue buying as things when it makes sense, if you plan on making at least 2-3 purchases a year until you are ready to buy a bag. It takes the pressure off, establishes a relationship with the store, and enables access to future items being available to purchase. In times when inventory is sparse like it currently is, purchase history is factored into anything that’s hard to get, from a bag to something as small as a scarf.

Thank you @Itinerantd and @leechiyong I really appreciate your replies and advice.

I think if I simply like an item, I will purchase it now. You have to enjoy things while you can!
And then later down the track when I am ready for a bag, I can see what my relationship is like with a SA or a store at that point, and work out what I need to purchase to get that magical offer haha.

Thanks again :)

In the US, buy what you like at your own pace. The spend is not as important as a relationship, and it helps to stick to one boutique, one SA. In Asia, it may be an entirely different story.

In some countries, your profile will be wiped after 2 yrs so you have to re-do the prespend. That’s what I was told.

Picotin 18 toile canvas in black with phw
Turned it down because I’m worried that accepting any non qb will impact my future qb offers
is this true??
accepting non qb will delay qb offer?…
I have wondered the same....anyone with ideas, thoughts?
It won’t necessarily delay a quota bag but with the current stock crisis, many SAs feel like you’ve been “checked off” the needy list with any bag offer/purchase. There are too many mouths to feed right now so if you’ve been given anything recently, they’ll tend to look toward someone who has gotten nothing when the next bag comes in rather than double dipping with one client. But with all things H, exceptions can often be found with large non leather purchases…
