Sorry dear, I have no idea. I don’t think there is a set formula. I believe they can insert anyone in the system as vip if they wish, while others have to work for it. LV used to be like that for example, not sure if it still is.@Angiebbb do you mind to share the requirements for spend and tenure to be considered as VIP?
My friend’s SA told her $100k prespend in a quarter in the U.S., but she hasn’t tested it.
Another friend became a VIP in the system without any major spend, she is a music PR and a singer went to her home store with her twice. She gets a QB every six months religiously and buys a pair of shoes, or shawl here and there. She also has leather appointments in Paris twice a year, the singer called Michael Costes and arranged for them to come once, now she goes by herself with a leather SA and only buys bags. (Curious that singer doesn’t buy H and is always at other brands’ fashion shows). Michael costes did post a photo with him.
The ones I mentioned in my prior posts buy shoes, belts and NQBs exotic. My best friend abroad buys furniture and lots of SLGs, also exotics. Another friend mainly buys jewelry but no single piece over $15k and never spends more than $15-20k before a QB. She got a Himalaya in her prior store with little prespend during Covid.
I thought it was very easy to sell exotic shoes, belts, SLGs, but apparently it is not. I knew that non coveted exotic NQBs were hard to sell.
I think being a big fan of a particular category or product, even if spend is not high, helps, especially if it is a category not everyone buys from, as furniture, jewelry, equestrian and the exotics that sit around.
The highest status in the system is collector, so I suppose one can be a collector of anything, it doesn’t need to be bags. I don’t think it works as much for silk and shoes, but for other categories, if you are buying often items that are not easy to move, there is probably a star in your favor somewhere.
My husband has one account abroad where the store manager became very excited all of a sudden bc she saw a photo of my CDC collection. The past few days we received photos of every CDC you can think of that I don’t have, and now she sends me the nicest messages, voice messages and kiss emojis. She loves CDCs and said she never saw a photo of so many together. She asked what bags I wished for in the future and to trust her that even if her stock is small and she has little control over it, that she will work on it for me little by little. I was shocked. Seriously shocked.
This is a case of excitement being contagious. I also got a bag offer once because this SA saw I’ve had Bastias and calvis painted with photos of my late dog. She took a photo and sent to their leather department chat (not in U.S., not Paris).
Being a collector of something might be a road somewhere, but who knows? I am not a VIP so I don’t know.
