Spend threshold for B/K/C

This varies wildly from store to store and country to country.

Your total spend and generally being a regular client DOES matter, especially if you are a long-term client. In my experience, which at this point is getting looooooooong, none of my stores have forgotten my history as a client, and it's perfectly possible to get back to back bags without much if any spend in between. I was *just* offered a bag at a US store where I have not spent one single penny in the past year (the last spend, around 15 months ago, was a piece of fine jewelry, nothing crazy).
Thank you so much! Super helpful.

Out of curiosity, what would qualify as a long-term client? >10 years history with the store?
Again, I think it depends. I have one store where my relationship is over ten years long, and it's the one I referenced above. My relationship with my current main store is only 3-4 years.
I do think that there was a tipping point for Hermès when the brand became extremely visible and trendy, and people who were clients before the peak crazy set in, and before peak reseller, will be treated differently.

Hoping to be offered either a dark neutral or pastel Birkin 25 or 30 in October, so I am trying to have a better sense of what the average prespend would be for this would be in Las Vegas (instead of just overthinking😅).

Here is where my prespend currently stands:

Total prespend: 12,310

I was offered a black with gold hardware Evelyn at the $4,280 mark.

When I picked up the Evelyn, I bought some fine jewelry and my SA asked which purse I was interested in.

I mentioned Birkin, Kelly, or Constance and she said a Constance 18 was doable. At that time, I was at $ 9,072.

She was able to offer me a etoupe with rose gold hardware Constance 18 at the $11,172 mark.

My SA let me know the Constance is not a quota bag at the store but is a rare bag. Does this mean my prespend will take a hit and I will need to get to a certain threshold for her to offer a Birkin? I would appreciate any guidance the community can provide!

Yes, the bags will set you back. It won’t erase your spend history but your profile will appear to have been “blessed” more than a similar profile who has not gotten a Constance. For a B25 you will likely now need 25k-30k+ in non bag spend total and for a B30, slightly less, though availability could then become a problem.

Agree with @acrowcounted but also want to add that prespend is far less exact than your impression. You’ve kept track of exactly what dollar amount you were offered bags and it’s just so much more about your relationship with an SA and the many many outside factors (what every other client and SA at your store are doing) than some specific dollar amount.

I personally would not buy any bags, of any kind, if I were after a QB. That said my SA has explicitly said buying a non QB doesn’t set you back unless you’re buying a lot of bags - I strongly suspect that this is one of those things that really depends on your SA and your SM. If your SA feels like they’ve scored for you already, and I consider a c a “score” they are less likely to feel urgency. SM can have all sorts of criteria, they can do whatever they want so I like to keep my bag profile quite slim.

Wait for the birkin. Taking any other bag will def not help but either delay your birkin or cost you more in prespend or both.

Are you local? Because the Vegas stores loooooove locals who spend. The vast majority of their traffic is tourists, which doesn't bring repeat biz (except high roller regular gamblers, the kind who jet in weekly, who are obv even more favored than locals). That said, a Constance is still considered a "favor" and would, I think, hurt your chances for a B anytime soon.

Thank you for providing a spending goal number. That is exactly what I was looking for!

Yes, I can imagine it depends on my relationship with my SA. She is very nice, but definitely more sales oriented. I am also an accountant, so my detailed spend tracking is definitely an occupation hazard

I am actually in the SF bay area, so Palo Alto would technically be the closest store to me. My SA ships items to me and I fly in when there is a bag available for pick up. The only time I have felt a bit disadvantaged was when she invited me for the holiday party and then immediately rescinded the invitation because I am not a local :hrmm:. Thankfully the flight duration is not bad flying to Las Vegas!

FWIW if you want some additional data points. I have 3 bags from my home store (1 non-QB, 2 QB), here are my ratios and timeline:

Non-QB: 1.05 [250 days from first spend]
QB: 1.18 (total spend excl non-QB) / 0.87 (since non-QB offer) [518 days from non-QB offer]
QB2: 0.86 [501 days from prior offer]

I’m also an accountant so I have trackers for everything in my personal life. That being said - my tracker is mostly so I don’t exceed my set “annual luxury budget” I have agreed upon with my husband. I don’t use it to track my pre-spend and I would caution against it because it can get demoralizing real quick.

As others have mentioned, if you want a quota bag - do not accept any other bags while you’re waiting for one because it will cause a delay. A good chunk of getting an offer is your relationship but that can only get you so far if management doesn’t approve because you have accepted other offers.

Another anecdote, I’ve literally asked my SA months before each QB offer: “do you think it’s possible for a QB this year?” and the follow up question from my SA has always been “did I get you a bag this year yet?” - which to me really validates the above claim about QB offer delays based on accepted offers. I will caveat that I have what I consider a good relationship with my SA and ask that question IRL while we’re having fun trying on stuff and updating my wish list (and the store is relatively empty), I would not recommend that approach if you maybe don’t feel as friendly with your SA.

ETA: That .86 ratio on the second QB might also be a bit misleading bc it was a blue box and cost more than 2x a regular offer 😅 so if you extrapolate that closer to a 1.72 ratio

Also, I don’t ask my SA for handbags frequently (I try to stick to a personal one handbag a year policy), so my offers generally materialize within 1-3 months after I ask even though I’m shopping in between offers.

Also, if I'm not misremembering, you are visibly pregnant. I don't think H really cares about Birthdays/Anniversarys/achievements but the one thing they always seem to want to celebrate with a good bag offer is a pregnancy/birth so I'm sure that helped! :flowers:

💯 concur on that!! I am very much pregnant and in the final count down to see the little one so I’ve been lurking a lot on the forum lately with all my spare time as I roll off projects at work.

I’m low-key convinced that having a baby is the best way to potentially fast-track an offer. 😂 Before I got pregnant, I feel like I saw friends/acquaintances get amazing offers during a pregnancy!
