Is it common that the first bag offer will be a non-QB? This was I was told by my SA, which I didn't think much of until my husband brought it up. I'm actually very interested in a Picotin or Mini Lindy so I don't mind at all. Just wondering if this was the norm?
I'm at the Williamsburg pop-up and patiently waiting for the flagship in Brooklyn in 2026. Current respond is around 2:1 bc we have so much fun with our SA!

*Sorry if this the wrong thread, wasn't sure where to post!

Yes, it is common...but Williamsburg doesn't get bags. Have you discussed this with your SA?

Yes! She has offered me one or two so far via text, non-QBs but nothing I've loved. And I am aware that I probably won't be offered a QB until the full store opens.
Thanks for your insight!
WB offered QB from Madison stock to someone I know with good relationship, shopping profile, etc.

Hi! Yes very common at least in my experience (at a non NY boutique). I was offered a Lindy 26 (declined) via text a week before my RTW appointment. At the end of my appointment, she offered a mini jyspiere (declined) and then she came back with a B30. So I think that’s just a sign of good faith from your SA!! I’ve used declining the bags as a good segue to mention why that bag didn’t work for me and what I’m actually interested in. I’m sure you’ll get a picotin or mini Lindy soon!!

Yes, it’s possible to get a QB from Madison
Thank you!

Be sure she knows what you want; as others have mentioned, she can offer from madison stock. And, she can also take you shopping at madison by appt :)

I was reading several shopping threads and noticed a proliferation of newcomers ansking about the likelihood of walk ins getting an JPG pochette from a flagship. Some seem to think 1X or 2X is sufficient.

IMO only, a JPG pochette is not easy even for regulars with high spend and tenure. Managers and staff have told me at different times that it is rare and may be a push offer, not ordered by store podium like a MKII. I’ve also been told that stores simply prefer MKII which has feet, a real top handle, and a strap. Whereas the JPG is basically carried like a clutch.

A stranger walking in likely will not be in the running simply bc a regular would consider themselves quite lucky to be offered. And stores, even in Europe without commission concerns, still have sales goals that can be most easily filled by regular bread and butter clients.

A regular if offered, would probably have spend equivalent to a more common MKII (which I think would be 4-5X + (perhaps less for a long time client). I’m in the US where I think it’s unlikely that 2-3X will net an unproven client a B25 or MKII unless there was serious indication of a long term future of generous spending. Of course, this is solely JMO, based on my own experience, and YMMV.

ETA: There are pochettes to be had at resale. In Tokyo I saw several with the going rate of 14K USD for swift leather in etoupe and two bright colors. And, they are available on US resale sites like Fashionphile too.

ETA: re @acrowcounted ‘s post below — I mean the Mini Kelly Pochette. Thank you

I call it the JPG pochette bc it was first introduced at Jean Paul Gaultier's first collection for Hermès in 2004.

Also wanted to add, while the pochette does hold more than the MKII, there is more likelihood of wear on the body
or bottom corners , or a misshapen strap handle. While swift leather can be restored to some extent, by @docride
or H spa, many do not want to go through the hassle or effort.

I agree completely with your post, though I recommend using the actual name for the bag, Mini Kelly Pochette, so that the newbies who this advice is meant for, will know you mean the bag they are asking about. (In fact, I'm only assuming you are meaning this bag based on context. Never heard anyone call it JPG anything. :flowers:)

Can anyone clarify if the pre-spend is on an annual basis, or is it just the total (over consecutive years) on other items before getting offered a quota bag? TIA!
This varies wildly from store to store and country to country.

Your total spend and generally being a regular client DOES matter, especially if you are a long-term client. In my experience, which at this point is getting looooooooong, none of my stores have forgotten my history as a client, and it's perfectly possible to get back to back bags without much if any spend in between. I was *just* offered a bag at a US store where I have not spent one single penny in the past year (the last spend, around 15 months ago, was a piece of fine jewelry, nothing crazy).
