I’m getting ready to buy my first ever LV. I’ve decided on the Speedy B in black but i can’t choose if I’d prefer the epi or empreinte leather.
Anyone got one or both and have thoughts on helping me choose? How does the leather wear? Will one slouch more than the other? My style is quite relaxed and i tend to wear shoulder more than cross body.

I actually have a vintage Epi Speedy and the Empreinte Speedy B and I prefer the Empreinte one. Many have complained that the new Epi Speedy shows wear very fast and isn’t as durable as the vintage ones. Go to the store and try them both out, but I can assure you the Empreinte Speedy B is a beautiful bag!!!

I prefer the style of the Épi Speedy, especially with the diagonal use of the leather. It has a modern, clean vibe and yet it’s one of the most emblematic pieces at Louis Vuitton.
I don’t care for Empreinte leather. I don’t like the way it looks or the way it ages.

In the end, it’s a matter of your personal preferences of course!

I have Empr speedy and love it, when Epi version came out I was strongly considering it but then remembered that my Epi neverful is so boxy and has scratches due to bumping into things that I decided against it...worn crossbody and sticking out like that Epi Speedy most likely will have its corners “shaved” sooner or later

I can speak to both leathers. If this will be your first, and presumably "only" LV bag, I would guess that it will be carried daily? Others are correct about Empreinte that it will soften and possibly lose the embossing over time if you carry it every day. If you have other bags in rotation, then I would highly recommend it because I think it's beautiful. On the other hand, Epi wears like iron. Will the corners eventually show wear, yes but so would any leather. I have not babied mine and they don't show any scratching. It will soften some, but will keep it's shape for the most part. Good luck deciding!

Following this thread! I’m planning to finally purchase my first LV this year.
OP, best of luck in your decision. Looking forward to seeing what will be your pick! [emoji4]

Both are beautiful bags, I would go for Empreinte if you use it as crossbody most of the time as Epi looks way better when carried as a handheld.

However, Epi looks like new many years down the road but not Empreinte, like my 6 year old Citadine PM showing obvious corner wears.

Somehow the longer drop length of the new Empreinte Speedy bothers me, it somehow alters the look of a classic Speedy.

It will be used in rotation, but will be my main fall/winter bag for everyday. I’ve previously only owned Chloe and Mulberry bags but branching out to LV and YSL this year. I hadn’t been a big fan of LV before i found the Speedy in leather and oh my! It’s so beautiful. Two things put me off the epi.
1. The silver hardware - I’ve always been a gold hardware lover!
2. The boxiness of it. I like my bags to slouch a little with age and i haven’t seen any pics of the epi as it softens up.
But then saying that, i love the modern look of the epi. Such a dilemma!
